[IMG] This question was eating at me for some time now. I've done a search on strongohlds but I didn't find the answer. I'm an archer and have the Umar Hills stronghold, but besides getting a few items, do strongholds give you an income or anything?

It entirely depends on the stronghold. For example, the D'Arnise Keep gets you some taxes. (But you wind up spending a bunch on "home improvements" to keep it. You do get some decent experience and the chance to be lord and master.)

The thieves guild gets you some money, but you need to pay Renal his weekly extortion. (Not sure what the improved thieves guild does as I've never bothered getting it.)

The Planar Sphere results in your very own apprentice who will make you stuff that, I suppose, you could sell.

The Bard's Playhouse will, once your play is complete, generate income for you.

Ranger, Paladin, Cleric, and Druid will, AFAIK, generate no ongoing income for you.

In general, the monetary rewards are not great, especially considering the money you need to put into the stronghold along the way. By the time you are through your stronghold quests, however, money should not be an issue.

The ranger stronghold gives you a cabin and a Moondog Figurine.

De'Arnise Keep gives you a weekly income I suppose.

The Planar sphere gives you the oppurtunity to travel between areas at no time. And you get an Alchemist to produce some potions for you each week.

I'm not quite sure about the rest though...

To join the choir here, how?

You get a couple quests, experience, and items out of each of them. That's basically it.

    Special Abilities:
Cerebus may be summoned once per day, for five minutes, and has the following
    innate powers:
Moon Dog Howl: used once per summoning, the howl damages and instills fear in

    Evil on party members.
Healing Lick: heals 8 HP of damage and cures Disease, Deafness, Blindness and
    Poison.

De'Arnise keep gives you 500 gp weekly, which is more like a symbolic payment for you to feal better as a tax-collecting lord, and it also gives you the opportunity to kick Roenall ass (not Isaea, though). I won't say spoilers, but I've read the dialogues and journal entries in the dialogue file and they're awesome.

I must try it some day, but I play paladins rather than fighters. I'll sooner use a tweak than play a fighter - it only needs time for me to get used to the thought of doing either :(

Paladin quests are very crappy, their storyline is a catastrophe, except killing Firkraag whom anyone can kill anyway and get the Avenger. You get some room you can't rest in, and in all reality, I haven't yet figured which room it is

Roleplaying-wise, there's no reason for a fighter to be barred from Radiant Heart quests and there's no reason for a paladin to be barred from Nalia's one. In both you need to be good or at least not-so-blatantly-evil, so what the deal. And monks get de'Arnise keep. Monks! Now don't tell me a monk is more into keeps and noble ladies and ruling people than a paladin. I understand that he would be on a constant crusade, but isn't charname the fighter on one? And no paladin would get away with leaving Nalia's home to Roenalls unless his DM had a dependent personality, even if he wouldn't actually take the position.

I'd rather make de'Arnise keep a side quest for all, where the keep would become a base of operations, and get the fighter a better stronghold.

There are also cleric strongholds, no one has mentioned them so far. No cash, some fun. A bit like with paladin quests, some assignments for the honchos at the temples. IIRC Lathanderians get the most of fun.

I know, or recall, nothing about the druid grove except that you speak to ghosts and get no cash.

IIRC, it's given to you be the Spirit after completing the quests. :rolling:

In general, most strongholds give you money. I think the fighter, bard, thief ones give you money on a regular basis (weekly).

All strongholds give you experience, and extra side-quests.

Some of them give unique items, such as the Ranger's Moon Dog Figurine, or the Druid's Lion Figurine, or the Mage's Wand of the Apprenti / Dagger of <charname> +1.

I'm not sure about this one, but I think strongholds do not add any special NPC dialogues though. (I had Nalia in my party for the fighter one and she surprisingly said nothing much)

Uhhh, I've read somewhere that you could travel between areas at no time with the Planar Sphere...

Or maybe I was dumb, again... :(
If anyone has heard about this, please reply...

The bit about the planar sphere refers to PLANAR TRAVEL, not travel between areas in the game, IIRC. So it's really just a point of prestige, for roleplaying purposes, and not really something that has any practical use in the game.

Although, the game flat out tells you that when Lavok dies, the Planar Sphere cannot travel any more...
