Not to mention that he had his own movie a while back. If you can find a copy of UHF it is pretty funny. It is available on DVD and has a pretty decent commentary track by Weird Al and the director.

My favorite song has always been "Amish Paradise". Given the events that have occured in some other forums, perhaps Tal should listen to it to deepen his understanding of the Amish, since he seems a little confused :p (sorry, Tal, I just couldn't resist needling you on that one. I'll never bring it up again, I promise :good: )

I imagine that there are many singers out there who could be considered to meet that description but Weird Al is definitely one of them. His songs tend to be either parodies of popular songs or just plain silly.

Lord Keldin Depaara, I know it by heart. I know a lot about the Amish, it's the Mormons I'm more or less clueless about. :shake:

The mormans have a funny religion. They beleive that they had refined steel and domesticated animals in America around 1200 A.D. We learnt about them in religion.

Weird Al is a quite weird man. Thus the name, obviously. I don't think anyone dislikes his music. I like Eric Idle's music better though.

I think you mean the Amish, Mormonism was only founded on July 24, 1847 at Salt Lake City, Utah.

I guess Baezlebub is right. The Mormons believe that someone has found another part of the bible in America (The book of mormon), which implicates, that "Americas christian history" is way older then for others.

Amischi on the other hand have no reason to believe so. They still speak düütsch and are well aware of having fled Europe, because the other presbyterians have developed a funny little way to handle them. Put a weight on them and drown them in the river. Morale of the story -> Never put a presbyterian preacher in charge of the Goverment. No, better, seperate state from church and never put a preacher of any kind of faith in power.

Fearing corrections through Lord Depaara concerning mispresenting of Mormon beliefs.

Sidenote: That's where Amish-people got their name from, they're leader was someone called "Ammann", so they were called:"The people how are lead by Ammann". Short in swiss: Amischi.

Please reference the "oh my heck, I'm from Utah" thread in the Alley to have all your misconceptions removed regarding Mormons -- including mistakes as to the location of the religion's official registration with the US government.

As for Weird Al, he once played a record producer on a Phil Collins Special. It was funny. Phil tried to yodel!
