    Hey!
I want to create a little homepage for myself. And I'm asking: Who's best at free web-site hosting(like Geocities and such)?

I wonder when their upgrade will be finished. It's been in the works for over 3 or 4 months. I'm still waiting. The reason is no banners, no popups, reasonable speed (although you could find faster hosts, even for free), not much content restriction (they won't put your page down for anything that isn't illegal in their country, which is Slovakia), 50 meg for free and option to expand (no banner trade-offs, you just need to have a good page or good reasons), full PHP and SQL support in newest versions (other free servers lag behind). When they're finished with the upgrade, it's also going to be a very fast host. AFAIK they still don't plan enforcing any ads and the amount of space for your webpage will be at least the same as before. So far you can only preregister and pray they finish soon :( - as I do.

For mine I used geocities. Well, actually I'm still working on it. But I find that its not too hard to use. I already had a yahoo (yahoo runs geocities) e-mail adress, so I'm not sure if you need to have one before hand.

I'm not sure how much space you get with it. So I will be very over stressed when I run out of space halfway through the creation of the web site as a whole. I pray that perhaps maybe that won't happen. But geocities does allow for quite advanced creation, but you can also side for the easier, slightly more childish web page.

Front Page is nice to get something basic and effective, but if you want a seriously hardcore page, you're going to want to learn Flash or Dreamweaver.

Thanks for the replies folks. I've just put up a test-website to see if i could do it. I did it! The domain I got from my ISP, it's totally ad-free and got 50 megs of space :)
