[IMG] What advice do you have for tactics to employ in the OC for a level 3 Fighter with the following stats:

    STR 14
    DEX 16
    CON 10
    INT 14
    WIS 10
    CHA 12

I know these are not powergaming fighter stats but they are the best representation of this character, who is, unfortunately, getting completely beaten up in the Peninsula by gangs of lamo prisoners.

Yeah, but is there any point in having two warriors? Or is this game so melee heavy that I can get by without a rogue and/or spellcaster?

There must be a way to make my dexterity based fighter work without hiding behind another fighter. Might as well just have a sorcerer or something if I'm going to have to take the fighter henchman anyway.

I think you can get by in the OC easily enough with two fighters... what you can't unlock, you can bash. You'll take some damage from traps, but that shouldn't be more than an annoyance. Your stats selection is far from optimal for a fighter though, so your best bet is good armour, a shield, and a good weapon. Once you're into the game a bit and when better equipment becomes available, you won't get killed (so) much.

with his stats, you would probaly be better off taking the weapon finesse feat and wielding a light weapon.

    off topic, but...

You can get be in the OC easily enough with a paladin with the following stats:

    STR 14
    DEX 10
    CON 10
    INT 14
    WIS 14
    CHA 15 :D

For your fighter, I suggest bumping the parry skill, taking the Improved Parry feat and Skill Focus (or however it's called in the English version) on Parry. Improved Parry you are bound to be able to select as a bonus feat for fighter, but Skill Focus probably not. Definitely get Improved Criticals for your chosen weapon. Take Focus and Specialisation - they aren't so overwhelming, but Focus makes the game give you more of this kind of weapon in random loot and there are also situations when every single point of damage counts. As for other classes, rogue and ranger seem logical, although I strongly suggest watching your BAB. Perhaps you will be better off with a single-classed fighter. With HotU installed, you may be able to take levels in Weaponmaster before finishing the game. I would suggest rapier or maybe two rapiers. This could give you a critical range of 12-20 and a X3 multiplier. The Tumble skill would give you some +3 AC before the end of the OC. Roleplaying note: it will all give you a nice badass piratey touch - all this rapier fencing, parrying and hitting crits 40% time. :D

I would say, get Power Attack to be able to deal more damage when more is needed, such as bashing through someone or something's damage resistance or simply bashing doors and chests. Cleave is a must have.

Store all kinds of special components (adamantite, diamonds, dragon blood, fey dust etc etc) because the smiths in the game can forge lots of nice suits of armour and nice weapons for you. You will find better stuff than most of it, but some items are very interesting.

Because some of the components are extremely rare, I would suggest not jumping into the first opportunity to use them. Perhaps it's not worth it in Chapter 1. In Chapter 3, the items can be quite powerful.
