    Today is the anniversary. On the first of August, 1944, undernumbered and undergunned, but by no means underhearted Polish forces took up arms to oppose the Nazi occupation. Mostly young people, scouts often, sometimes the whole troop shared a single gun. It was not so uncommon to find an officer in early twenties or younger. Those people had to grow up fast. They didn't have a peaceful youth by any means. Many of them ended up dead. Many ended up captive. Some were murdered by the Soviets or even Polish own communists installed by the Russian Soviet regime after the war. They stayed true. To God, to Poland, to honour, to themselves. They paid the terrible price. I salute their memory and let them rest in peace and never be forgotten.
