I am having the darndest time 'using' items..

    for instance:

    1. in the sewers to get the talking sword---I had to experiment alot to get my characters to place the items in the pipes at all.. I finally did it but I am not sure how

    2. anytime I need to 'give' an item to someone (like the swords to the kids in the Umar hills) I just end up clicking like crazy until the proper action is done... it drives me crazy

    any suggestions?

In the sewers you're given a series of hints both by the old man and the pipes them selves, although the pipes only give their hints once I think.

As to the other, hmmm... If you have the items in your (or another party member's possesion, it should be no problem.

The only problem I had when trying to 'use' things was being in the right position. In all the cases I can think of, when you can 'use' someting the cursor changes to a sort or circle shape. If you click then, a message normally appears giving a hint as to what the item does. Clicking again makes the event trigger. For many of these triggers though, you need to be standing next to the item you are clicking on (if you're not you normally get a floating text message saying 'you are not close enough to ....'). Of course, it also won't work if you haven't got a required item in your inventory. E.G. you can click on the boilers in the Planersphere but nothing will happen if you haven't got any coal.

As to 'giving' items to other characters, with most of the cases I can think of, this happens through conversation dialoges rather than by trying to use an item on a person. I didn't give the kids the swords, but I guess you do it by talking to them and choosing the dialogue options that say you will give them a sword. It might also be that, if you didn't give them a sword when you had a chance the first time, the option will have dissapeared.
