Use Magic Device Skill Question

    [​IMG] When a rogue uses his "Use magic device skill" What is their casting level? Is it At the pc's actual character level as if he were a mage/cleric? Do the number of points in the skills have anything to do with it?

    Help me!

    I believe the device itself gives you the casting level (in parentheses), just like potions do.

    [​IMG] No, I mean...For example, say I use a scroll to cast magic missile as a 10th level rogue. The spell description says that a mage gains an extra missile for every 2 caster levels. Will I fire 5 missiles? Or will I only fire 1? Or will my effective "casting" level be something completely different?

    As I said, I believe the casting level is fixed for the device, and I think they always put it in parentheses in the description, just like potions.

    I could be wrong, but I think that even if you were a 20th level Wizard and cast using the scroll, you are limited by the scroll's casting level.

    BTA is, of course, correct. However, most (if not all) of the scrolls that I have seen do not specify their casting level. Sad, but true.
