I just dual classed my Level 21 Neutral Good Half Orc Kensai to a thief. I was surprised how fast a thief can level up. When I manage to to get to level 22 thief. My Kensai class was active and I was able to use my grandmaster Katanas ability together with Kai to backstab/Assassination doing up to 200 Damage every time. Critical hits he does up to 80 damage. Normal hits he does around 40 Damage. When I manage to to get my thief to level 24 and was able to use the any item ability. I manage to get his amour class to -24AC, his saving throws are all below 0, magic resistance 105 when I gave him the +6 Holy Avenger Sword which he was a grand master with the weapon. Using Greater Evasion ability I manage to get his AC down to -30AC. If I used a bard song then it will go down further to -34AC. When I improved hasted him he does becomes insane and I just sit back and watch demons explode around him. His THACO is -21 and -20 when using Hindos Doom and Celestrial Fury. He always hit something when he attacks.

The only down side is that I had to wait a long time for his thief class to level up to level 22 so that my Kensai class was to be active.

Items used are:

Harper Amulet
Montolio's Clock
White Dragon Scales
Ring of Gaxx
Ring of Earth Control
Boot of Speed
Bracers of Blinding Strike
Belt of Fire Giant Strength
Helm of Balduran

Dual wield +4 Hindo's Doom and +3 Celestrial Fury or +6 Holy Avenger Sword.

Stats are:
-24AC
-21 Main hand THACO and -20 off hand THACO
Saving throws are all below 0
Magic Resistance is 55
Str is 19 (23 Using Belt)
Dex is 18 (19 after used Lum The Mad)
Con is 19 (21 In nine hell then became chaotic evil which really sucked, 22 after used Lum The Mad)
Int is 10
Wis is 10
Chr is 10

Party Members:
Viconia for Romance and Best Cleric
Korgan good fighter
Edwin for being best mage
Later taken Sarevok in TOB

I think I dual sarevok to a thief too so he can use any item.

 

Dualing Sarevok to a thief just so he can use any item? In the time it takes for you to surpass Sarevoks' fighter levels with thief levels you will have missed out on Sarevok's awesome fighting abilities. Is it really worth it?

 

At Level 19 You will have gotten the most out of a fighter. Which means you have gotten almost all of his saving throws and THACO ability.

High level thief ability for a fighter is far better.

Use any Item - You can get his AC to around -18, magic resistance over 100%, saving throws all below 0 and use the +5 Holy Avenger sword.

Assassination - Is far better than deathblow

Improved Haste - Is a little like whirlwind but last longer

Greater Evasion - Is far better than using Hardiness. An AC of -24 nothing can hit you.

Avoid Death - Is better than magic resistance.

To get him to level up I Give Sarevok the upgraded Firetooth Crossbow and put him on the top of the map in Saradush where the fire giants keep on respawning. I then went to sleep and woke up in the morning and found that sarevok was ready to level up to level 26 Thief.

 

Lol, well I suppose if you get your experience that way then it isn't a big deal. Geez how many game days went by?

 

Heh, that is a cheap way of leveling up. *cough powergamer*. To each his own i guess. Do you have fun playing the game when your character has no problems killing the greatest of foe single handedly?

Fighter-21 ---> 3,250,000 xp
Thief-22 ---> 2,640,000 xp

I was about to ask how you could even consider dual classing at level 21 when it would take the rest of the game to reactivate the fighter class.

What you did would IMHO be ok for a test but reeks of exploitation to such a degree I could never do it and keep playing with that party. Like other similar tests it'd be fun for a few minutes but then it tends to disgust you, doesn't it?

 

Its not that hard to do when you're playing in a really small group like he is. With 6 I think I got about 5.5 mil each; with 4 7-8 mil doesnt seem that hard to reach.

BTW I'm back! The rumors of my death were highly exagerated, if I was even noticed gone there for a week.
