[IMG] I very rarely dip my feet into the Alley, but our upcoming Presidential Election is coming up, and I am still amazed that George Bush and John Kerry are the best candidates a nation of 300 million can muster!!!

Who are your candidates for President (party affiliation is irrelevant) if you could pick your Pres and VP. Here's mine:

    President: John McCain
    Vice President: Colin Powell

    What about you?

I'd like that too. I've seen McCain on CNN sometimes, particularly the Daily Show, and I am amazed of his eloquence. I gather, that he was head to head with Bush, as they elected the presidential nominee. How has Bush managed to win ? But, yes, McCain seems pretty smart to me.

I would love to see McCain president. I am a registered Democrat, but if he had won the Republican nomination in 2000, he likely would have received my vote.

I'm curious, why is McCain such a dream candidate?

[IMG] I don't know if dream candidate is the right phrase, but I think he's moderate and sensible with an ability to compromise between parties. To me, that's important because I think both parties are on the extreme right now...You're either "Liberal" or "Conservative" there doesn't seem to be a middle ground...And I believe the GREAT majority of Americans are nearer to the middle than either pole.

Hence my wish for a strong, viable third party in the United States. If only I could get the funding and backing to start one!!!!

I'm with Bel - John McCain is a bad ass. Love him. I actually admire him for losing to Bush 4 years ago. He could have easily stooped as low as Bush and used the same sleezy smearing tactics to even the playing field, but he didn't. And that - among other things - gives him class and integrity.

[IMG] @Bel - will you accept PayPal donations? I'll even give you U.S. dollars instead of our cut-rate Canadian ones. :D

Dream president - myself, of course!

Oh, wait...that's also everyone's nightmare president...

Y'know, it perplexes me that McCain and Powell have such moderate reputations...they're "moderate" only in comparison to Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, et al. McCain and Powell are well to the right of most Americans on most issues, including social issues like abortion. (Powell is on record for supporting affirmative action, granted, but that seems less because of his race than his career - the military is a strong supporter of affirmative action.)

Which is to say, I'd vote for a McCain-Powell ticket m'self.

Oh, Hacken Slash is free to join my ticket.

Just think - our pairing would GUARANTEE a Democratic victory! Nominate GM-HS today!

    "GM-HS - They're Always Right, Even When They're Wrong"

"GM-HS - An AMD in Every House, and BG2 on Every Drive"

I think I'll appoint Aribeth as my Defense Secretary...
