I've heard of people pushing late model E7200's to 3GHz with a decent aftermarket HSF. I'd say it's worth a shot...that is, *if* you have quallity RAM and a mobo.

Point is, I may have quality stuff, but I don't trust either of it. I blame drivers and BIOS, not the hardware, though, so at least I think I won't fry anything, but admittedly, this computer keeps challenging me. I'm trying a 2.7 now - with 286 FSB. Let's see if it works. I get bad core temps, even though the CPU temp seems to be fine. Wonder why.

Well, both my CPU fans (I have a 0.75 kg gold-plated copper tower heatsink) run at the lowest possible rate with resistors turn up to the max. This way they are just under 850 rpm and I can't hear them. Obviously, when I play a game, I don't need this kind of silence. So perhaps I'll turn the resistors down and turn on automatic CPU fan control and see how that goes.
