Let me quickly give you some background information before I ask my questions. First and foremost, I am a cheater. I do play games where cheating is impossible or will get you permanently banned from playing them over a multiplayer network, but many of the games that I own allow for tweaking the game. To me, having an early advantage in a game just enhances the game experience, and I apologize if some (or most) of you do not feel the same way.

Now, I actually have read the terms of service and forum rules, and I haven't found any clauses that prohibit posts concerning cheats. Though I did find something saying that "hacks" are posted in the forums, it never hurts to be certain; I once posted a thread concerning game cheats in a Medal of Honor forum, and my account was terminated because I did not comply with the forum's rules (my defense to the forum admins was "Oh come on, who reads those things anyway?").

If there is a problem, feel free to report me to the admins and get my account terminated. I'll just find help elsewhere.

    And now, without further ado:

I just got a Windows Vista laptop, and I wanted to transfer my saved BG2SoA game from my old WinME desktop, but I can't seem to find the right directory. Where are the saved games located?

Also, I'm having trouble with the CLUA console. When I tried to alter the baldur.ini file with "Debug Mode=1" under the Program Options line, the file would not save, and when I copied the text in the file to another NotePad document with the appropriate alterations and saved it in the BG2 file on my computer, I still could not bring up the console in the game. Could someone help me with this?

No, we arent against cheats, tweaks or exploits here. Whether you use them is entirely up to you.

My guess is that Vista is preventing you from saving the file because you have installed it in Program Files. Easy Solution - install it somewhere else. Slightly harder solution - set the folder permissions so that everyone has access to it, or disable UAC temporarily.

As for your savegames, they are in the save folder.

Installing the game to a different directory doesn't solve the baldur.ini problem. What is UAC?

Also, the Save folder won't appear when I install the game. I'm going to try just creating one and moving my previously-saved game to that.

Wunderbar! Everything works now. Thanks for your help!

All right, I have another problem: the game won't save. Any suggestions on how I can remedy that?

Whoops, didn't finish Proteus response. Embarrassing mistake on my part.

Check to see if your old game is flagged as read only or not. If that were the case you probably wouldn't be able to override it.

removing the read-only attribute from my saved game still won't allow me to save. I'm getting rather frustrated now.
