    Thoughts, comments?
They had the first Twenty20 match in Adelaide last night with Australia A beating Pakistan by 54 runs. Both sides were penalised 6 runs for taking 83 minutes instead of the 80 mins that they were required to complete bowling in.

BTW has anyone got any info on the Australia vs the rest of the world match that is supposed to occur at the end of the year - there is nothing on the ICC site.

I prefer the 50 over game. 20 over slogfests are too one-dimensional. Test matches are too long, and I dislike the idea where sides set out to draw matches. The one day game, if refined a bit more, would be the best thing for cricket. I prefer seeing Gilchrist destroying the opposition, Cairns launching them into row Z and Akhtar's inswinging yorkers clean out slogging tailenders than Richardson blocking all day, Lara scoring 500 or Warne bowling 180 overs for 1 wicket on an extremely flat deck. I'm sure the purists would disagree though. :) So my order of preference would be like this: ODIs, twenty20 then tests.

I think there is a place for all forms of the game. In New Zealand we have had something similar called Cricket Max for years and it is great. Other good versions of the game are the Six-a-side that they play in the Commonwealth Games and the Double Wicket version that Daniel Vettori and Jacob Oram won in the Caribbean last year.

But as a cricket fan, you can't beat the Test match for me. That is the pinnacle of quality cricket.

20/20 cricket is already part of the county scene. Although, like Harbourboy, I prefer test cricket, 20/20 is a good little side show. Especially when Freddie Flintoff is involved. He loves it!

Just wish he wasn't carrying a side injury. He's not done very good in Englands series against SA so far. Especially with the bat, getting a spectacular 2 runs today.
Good old Vaughny finally pulling his weight and putting a few runs on. About bloody time. 82 I think he was on, before play was stopped for bad light. Took him over 200 balls to get there mind, but still. Was hilarious watching him and Harmy smacking Ntini and Pollock allover the park. 81 for a 9th wicket partnership, not bad.
Run machine Straussy boy smacking 'em again. Good lad.
Got to mention the shocking umpiring though. So inconsistent. Anyway I'm babbling. I don't think the lads will last very long tomorrow mind. We will be spending quite a bit of time in the field tomorrow. It's imperative that we get Kallis quickly.

    Good bye cricket lovers!

I was never really into cricket that much until I got my new job. I used to watch ODI's regularly but everything else was boring to me. Now though, it's on the TV at work all the time and most of the other staff and customers talk about it so I'm getting more into it now. the Twenty20 match was pretty good IMO. Still prefer ODI's, but the best thing about Tests is that you can go to the bar for a drink without worrying about missing too much if you can't see the TV from the Bar.

Yeah test cricket is quite a good laid-back-sunday-afternoon-drinks type of game. Perfect for recovering from big saturday nights! Also good to have on the TV when the day is dragging on at work.
