TV! Is it just me or are there no good shows on anymore?

What do you watch on tv and what do you think is just complete junk.

Watched the UK version of temptation island last night and one guy didn't even last 24 hours. With Big Brother and all the other clones is this just rubbish tv ?

All the video shows that are on where you watch the film from a police car chase etc. This has to be complete rubish right ?

It's all just cheap tv and it really shows.

British comedy indeed. I wish they would send some more reruns of Fawlty Towers and Black Adder. Some Flying Circus would be nice to. Maybe 'Allo 'allo too, but I think I've seen the whole series at least two times
I wonder what the newly announced Forgotten Realms TV show will be like...

British comedy shows were good in the good old days but they just don't make shows like that any more in the UK and they look a bit dated.
BBC2 which showed most of them Black Adder, Red Dwarf, etc has had very bad scheduling in the last few years which has caused much of the new series to be killed off. Red Dwarf lost it's figures as people just didn't know when it was going to be shown as they changed the day and time slot several times thoughout the one series.
Black Adder got a one-off show last year which was quite good but just too short.
TV companies just don't care anymore, they would rather buy in shows which don't last or ideas which aren't very good.

 

I stopped watching TV-shows a few year ago. Sometimes I still watch friends or fresh prince or Cartoon Network but I don't watch tv often anymore, for there's less good on it anymore. I watch less then 1 hour TV a day....

 

IF this thread is really meant as an attack on big brother then I am in. I love Robinson though. Am I weird

 

Of course you're weird. I finally got used to you as a myconid, and now you've evolved again.

I know there are good TV shows out there. It seems like every cartoon that first starts up is hilarious because there're lots of jokes that only adults will get. Animaniacs and TinyToons were like that for their first one or two seasons.

But now... I dunno. It seems like it's Simpsons, sports, or nothing.

 

What do you call a tv-show? Do series include like sit-coms and thing like that? There is lots on tv these days and I always watch a few hours a day. So, what I always watch on tv are things like Star Trek, The Simpson, Buffy, Friends, Fresh Prince, lots of other sit-coms, it is just to much to mention.

P.S. I agree with Nobleman, Big Brother sucks, but Expedition Robinson (or Surviver as it is called in USofA) is fun to watch.

 

TV? What's that? A bunch of crap that's what. I get news through paper and online. The only time I watch TV is for a sporting event or cartoons Sitcoms? Gameshows? Bah.

I used to watch a lot of TV, but now, I just wait for "America's Funniest Home Videos" re-runs to end so that I can see what other crap is on. I've reverted to watching Dragon Ball Z.

 

You have clearly not understood this. TV is boring. PC is fun.

 

I don't really understand the concept of reality-TV. It's like we're admitting that we don't have lives of our own, and that we might as well be watching someone else's lives instead of doing something about it. It's just like soap-operas, only worse, and with ordinary people.

all the sitcoms, reality shows etc ACK can't stand them. I've come to a point where i can't stand watching 3 commercials in a row (by this time i just shut the tv for it feels like a whole day has passed by the time they end) just to watch a crappy movie/ But of course, toonami rocks. Besides i go and rent anime videos from time to time.

And of course, with so many crpg games that i've yet to finish.. who needs tv anyway :errsomething:

Here is what I like and watch in an average week:

1. priority NEWS
2. Priority David Letterman
3. priority Robinson expedition
4. priorty Batman the cartoons
5. priority Friends

uhm that is all And then I watch lots of movies.

 

There are some good shows, Simpsons, and all its ilk such as Futurama, King of the Hill, and Malcolm in the Middle, as well as some other fox comedies such as Titus, That 70's Show, and the upcoming Undeclared. As well as other shows that are not really worth mentioning, but that I use for background noise while one the computer

 

i dont watch tv much either i am either playing paintball skateboarding or on the computor occasionnally i watch some tv but rarly. There are a couple of shows i like for example "Whose Line Is It Anyway"(american version) "Premium Blend" "Comedy Central presents _________"
and "Jackass"

 

Perhaps these don't qualify but the best dramas on television to me are The Sopranos, Band of Brothers, and Oz while my favorite comedy is Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Maybe HBO doesn't qualify as TV but these are all outstanding series and more than enough tv for a week. Also, The Mind of the Married Man has been funny but it's too early to pass judgment.

 

If you live outside the UK, you may not have seen the worst yet:

"Popstars" and now heaven forbid: "Soapstars". What an utter load of tosh! Anything that created HearSay should have been banned from the start!!!!

Enough of that though.

Good new programmes:

Sitcom - Coupling - quite funny indeed.

Comedy - The sketch show. New so new ideas. Will no doubt die as they all do.

Nature - THE BLUE PLANET. Fantastic series from the BBC. It's a must. BBC rule Nature programmes! And prime time slot too.

 

I have to admit, I actually think there are a couple of good shows on. I like to watch:

Angel
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Gilmore Girls (totally a female thing)
Friends (occasionally)
Alley McBeal
Animal Planet (as far as a channel goes)

Other than that, TV is really starting to suck. I would much rather watch a good movie.

 

Sad to say I am way down near the bottom of the TV time scale being as I Only really watch three shows Startrek, CSI (stands for Crime Seen Investigators) and JAG. That is it and some of the time I miss some of thouse.
