I've been thinking of going through BG and actually doing Durlag's Tower and killing Sarevok (spoiler?) but I can't stand the resolution/slow walking. So I was thinking that Tutu would be the answer to all my problems (with kits to boot) and was wonderring how buggy it really is.

    Thanks.

I´ve had no problems whatsoever with it.
I´ve only played through BG1 with Tutu installed once though.
I think it´s a great mod and should be, atleast, tried by everyone that loves the BG games.

If the slow walking bothers you, go into the config program in your BG directory and increase the frame rate in the video settings. I believe the default is set at 30 (as in 30 frames of animation per second). Turn it up to about 45, that should work. 60 is a bit much, it makes things go way too fast.

As for Tutu - if installed in the correct order, I liked what little I've played and I've heard it's great all the way through. I unfortunately have had a problem where the game now crashes to the desktop whenever it starts, but I'm told that if I do a clean re-install this should fix the problem. Maybe someone who knows can post the proper install order.

It's a great mod, and the Kits certainly make the BG1 storyline more interesting, and especially refreshing because you get to reassign the classes/kits of the original NPC's. Give it a try.

As per your request, ohh my furry master :D

    Installing

    1) If you haven't already, perform a Full Install of BG1. This could mean BG1, BG1 plus TotSC, or BG: The Original Saga, depending on what you've bought.
    2) Apply the BG1 patch from Bioware *only* if you do not have BG: The Original Saga.
    3) If you haven't already, perform a Recommended or Full install of BG2. Throne of Bhaal is supported but not required.
    4) Depending on what you have installed, apply the BG2 patch or ToB Patch from Bioware.
    5) Extract bg1tutu_v(x).exe to your BGII directory. (Where x is the version number you've downloaded.)
    6) Open up the file called "configuration" using your text editor of choice (Notepad, Wordpad, PFE, etc.) which will be inside the bg1tutu directory located in your BGII directory.
    7) Change the source path to your BG directory and the target path to your BGII directory. For instance, if my BG1 install was located at c:bad:games\BG1 and my BGII install was located at c:bad:games\BGII, here's what the top of the configuration file would look like after I'd altered it:
    ~source~ [ ~C:bad:games\BG1~ ]
    ~source.variant~ [ ~BG1~ ]

    ~target~ [ ~C:bad:games\BGII~ ]
    ~target.variant~ [ ~BG2~ ]
    8) Install any BG1 mods/upgrades that you will want to use in your BG1 directory.

Note: Most WeiDU based mods *should* convert correctly.
    9) Double-click bg1tutu.exe (it will be in your BGII directory) and let it run. Depending on the speed of your computer, it can take anywhere from 3 to 6 minutes for the conversion to complete.
    10) If you want BG music, copy BG's music folder into your BGII directory. (Make sure to rename BGII's music folder to something else first so that you don't overwrite BGII's music.)
    11) If you downloaded Sim's alternate start screens, make sure you extract the archive to your BGII override folder.
    12) Play BG using BGII's engine!

It's well worth trying. Playing BG1 in a higher resolution makes quite a difference and you also get a few nifty things from BG2 carried over as well. Like resting. Get injured in BG1 and rest and you get back 1 lousy HP. Rest in BG1 with Tutu installed and you get back them all!

In short, you get the stunning story of BG1 along with the exceptional engine of BG2.
I´m still waiting for a game to beat this.

The people who made this mod should be given an award. Or two.

Wes already deserves a statue for the WeiDU tool, much less all of his other work. :D

If we´re talking BG1 mods I´ve only tried one and that´s the TGC mod. But not the final version though.

TDD works, but fills no purpose unless you use SK or CLUA to get the items that comes with it.

I can think of a few bugs with Tutu that, although you can work around them, can... annoy.

    1) The Gnoll encampment (and a few other high water areas, but not them all) have odd slowdowns, like lag.

    2) Beginning HPs often come out wrong.

    3) Something about Beregost (and as one person theorized but I have yet to prove to myself) causes save game corruption. He was thinking buying multiples of stuff, like arrow packs, by double clicking in a shop and getting more than one.

There's others, true, and definitely hit the forums so you know what you're getting into. But, that said, it's an incredible mod. I really love what some of the familiars say, esp the evil ones ("Pity about the old man... so, what's for lunch?")
