[IMG] Playing the game again as a monk this time, and I was just wondering... A couple of weeks ago I saw a post about some Trapped Wizard in the Underark, and not the lich in the jail thingy. I think someone said it was near the earth elemental portal. I can't find it. Can somebody give me more exact instructions? How does it look like anyway? And do I need to have something with me in order to get in?

First you need a Freedom scroll which you should be able to buy from the dwarves (gnomes?) in the bottom part of the screen (just keep going downwards when you enter the underdark). Next you should go to the place that is described in so many other posts, and cast it there. And Presto the mage should appear.

Vithal appears close to the Earth Elemental Portal. He asks you to getr the Book of Rituals. You can buy this book from the innkeeper in the duergor encampment for 300 GP. Go back to Vithal. Follow him, he goes through the 3 portals and you have to kill a Greater Fire, Earth and Air-elemental. You'll get 11.000 XP and the Rod of Absorption as reward. When you complain about the reward, you also get 2 scrolls. You can also fight him, that's a VERY tough battle. You'll get some scrolls and a helmet, the Skull of Death: http://www.gamebanshee.com/baldursgateii/equipment/screenshots/helmets/skullofdeath.jpg

And what does this rod of absortion do?
I never found the wizard, but now I'll try, because I just started again.

You dont get the book of rituals from the duergar. You get it from the svirnefblin in the north. But just cast a freedom spell almost anywhere in the underdark and Vithal appears between the elemental gates.

You get the book from the innkeeper in the Duergor/svirnefblin encampment... the svirnefblin in the north.... there are lots of them in the north...

The rod of absorption: once a day: absorption; absorps all magic damage done to the wielder of the rod once a day.

    Yes it's a tough battle....

Then why don't you rob him like me?
When he gets to another portal, pickpocket him then talk to the bastard. Finally you'll have his inventory to fight him.

Ah, you haven't improved pickpocket skills... Then what do you think ppocket skill is for? Some game make up?

One of those merchants in the bottom actually tells you about this. You just have to converse a little bit with him

Insect Plague or Arrows or Darts of wounding. The mage can never get a spell off, and after his protections wear off, which happens pretty fast....
