What are the top 5 toughest fights you've had and won (even if it took multiple tries). Please state Sole or Party, if party please state how many members, and a difficulty on a scale of 1-10. Oh and if it's a fight from a mod please state which mod. Thank you for participating. Please come again.

On a final note, please put the average level of your party (pretty easy to figure out if it's solo).

My first time fighting Kangaxx. I must have reloaded at least 50 times trying to get through that fight with "acceptable losses."

The two that spring to mind at the moment (sorry can not think of 5 right now - I will return), were not 'boss' monsters or anything like it. In fact they were standard critters.

First was only a few days ago. I recently installed unfinished business mod, and I think this scenario comes from that.

Basically Boo is missing and so the party of around 11th level (lead by a Totemic Druid) winds through the storyline without too much bother, getting to the shop of the pet guy. Ok so far!

Then I am teleported to the Troll Mound (where I have been before) but this time I am attacked by Trolls that would not DIE!!! I hit them with fire, poison and acid....nothing! Eventually I left the area. Went to Trademeet, returned and they were gone!

Second worst fight was very similar. I was strolling through Firk's Pad. With a (avg level 9-10) 6-strong Party (never do this anymore), and as I moved my party along Aerie decided (for reasons best known to herself) that she wanted to go a scenic route. She wondered down a side alley (unknown to me) and was ripped apart by Werewolves (or Wolfwares etc). I sent the party in but however much damage I did they would not go down. We "valiantly" ran away losing Aerie and Edwin. My main boy (PC) buffed up on spells and headed back only to find the critters had gone! So I collected any dropped eq, made my excuses and went away to lick my wounds.

Oddly fights against Bohdi, Jonelith etc have been relatively peacemeal in comparrison, although the final battle with Mel is always a pain in the butt.

Improved Irenicus, no question. I had 3 characters and we had gone through watchers keep so we were way higher level than the average party you face him with and I still got my butt handed to me more times than I can count. I'll say it was the dragon, I hate him so much. The Sword of Grief was annoying because of its immunities but after I set up a chain contingency with 2 ADHD's he was done. The dragon on the other hand was the second to last one to go down. He trapped my main boy (28th level barbarian) on a stair case and absolutely wouldn't let me get up. Every three seconds another wingbuffet. Finally I summoned a Fallen Planetar (maybe deva) with managed to get his attention long enough for me to sneak in and finish him with some GWW's. After than it was a matter of fistfighting Irenicus to death. He was such pain with the constant teleporting but I finally managed to knock him out, wait through his PMW and finish him off with a single katana stroke. The next fight went easily since a high level barbarian is more than a match for the slayer. One improved haste weilding Acid Katana and Belm and he was gone. After he spawned himself again (AAAARRRGHHHH!!! DIE ALREADY!) I completely stopped caring about things such as cheesiness or being cheap. Read a scroll of magic protection and told my barbarian to sick him as my cleric and cleric/mage just try to stay out of the way. At this point I wanted to kill Weimer so badly I honestly considered SK'ing his name onto one of the characters and then using my favorite spell combo: greater malison, stone to flesh, disintegrate :) . Come to think of it, I still might.

Solaufein wraith spiders and Improved shade lord. The shade lord I had no idea was altered, plus the Harpers were showing up and everyone was dying. I CTRL+Y'ed both sets of enemies. Uninstalled the mod and refuse to add anything that 'alters AI' and/or is by Westley Weimer.

My toughest fight was with my spacebar when attempting anything 'improved' by Weimer. :p

    @Kuemper
I wouldn't give up on ai enhancements, most mods that add 'improvements' just tend to cheat and give the enemies ott powers and weapons. Try the latest version of The Big Picture, the core ai enhancements smarten the oposition without resorting to cheese.

This topic reminds me why i'm not overly enthusiastic about 'The Broken Hourglass'

i usually play multiplayer with 6 people, so of which are NPCs difficulty is usually around normal or higher
i dont play much so i havent tried many difficulty settings

-i was inexperienced at tried taking on Kangaxx, reloaded like 30 or so times, i didnt researh the guy so i didnt really have a strategy for fighting him, unless 'charging blindly on' is a strategy. i realeased him thn just started hacking away, did quite well til he turns into the demi-lich
-much the same with demogorgon, not thinking it through, the mariliths kicked my ass the first few times, i could bareless land a hit, they would pretty quickly kill the only people who could hurt them
-improved Irenicus, the magic sword, was too good for me, and well that whole battle was too good for me,

i did managed to win all these fights in the end

Haven't we done this loads of times? :p

Anyhow, I think my first attempt at Kangaxx may have been the toughest fight I've ever had.

EDIT: Cought up by the past I have to add Draconis  :p

Chances are, thought, that I've said something else in another 'toughest fights' thread. Truth be told, a lot of fights (mainly first attempts on un-modded high-end fights) have been really tough.

I'd say the first time I fought Draconis was pretty darn hard..mostly because I was completely unprepared and non-spoiler'd so I wasn't expecting a dragon who casts invisibility periodically and what not. I got my ass kicked HARD!! Oh, I was playing a Fighter/Mage with Minsc, Jaheira, Imoen, Korgan and Viconia.

Yeah... this exactly go as planned... Oh well. Thanks anyway. Was looking for an idea of how hard to make a certain battle.

A battle between your party and a necromancer and a LOT of dead dudes.

Is it a battle you want to make (as a mod) or a battle introduced in another mod?

    Please explain, I'm curious :) .

Alrighty, it's a battle me and my friend are planning to make. Notice I say planning. We've got all the files and creatures and that stuff. We've just have yet to put it all together. Actually, we're still working on figuring out how to use WeiDu intaller thing. Basiclly there are 4 or 5 levels floors in a castle, each with an undead king. Have to bet the king before you go up. Each dailoge from the kings gives you a little more info on whats going down, in detail, and each floor is a little more difficult then the last. Once you reach the roof you fight the necro, which we're trying to make it a hard fight for a high level party. The kind of thing that your solo F/M/T has a hard time handling. We've some left over files for an optional expanded storyline for it but we haven't desided whether or not to use it, seeing as we'd have to get another animation from Diablo, which BTW is a pain even for a skilled person at doing that kind of stuff, like my friend. Well thats enough spoiler for one day. If you want anymore just let me know and I'll send it through pm.

If I were you and wanted to give mages a hard time, make the necromancer a max level mage, with tons of breach spells, Vecna's robe, lots of Remove magic spells, the usual time stops plus energy blades, three misleads put into a spell trigger all holding the staff of the magi, Project Image, and the rest is pretty obvious. Also, if you really want to get people to throw fits, you should add a cleric who is prebuffed with all the combat bonus spells he can have, weilding a strength belt and awesome weapons. A well buffed priest can easily kill an unbuffed warrior, especially with energy blades.
