I've checked the FAQs (not just at this site) but have not found any solution, so here goes: I recently "reactivated" my BG game (had run out of time for it a couple of years ago just after getting to the showdown). Started playing again, defeated Sarevok, decided I would install ToSC.

All of the buttons of the ToSC installer work fine (Demos, ReadME, exit) except the actual install button: it revs up the CDROM drive but then the installer window simply disappears (presumably the setup program dies). Has that happened to anyone else? Clearly, the BG installation itself worked fine, and I have not found any specific W2K issues mentioned anywhere...

    Thanks

That's strange - I have TotSC installed on Win 2K and it works fine. Have you tried running the .exe file on the TotSC disk (as opposed to using the Auto run feature (I'm assuming that you bought the games seperately)?

They came as a package in one box, but ToSC has its own CD. Yes, I've tried launching setup directly (even in the Command Window), made no difference.

Do you have SP4(or greater) and the newest of the newest updates? I didn't have any problems installing it eventhough I can't even install codecs.
And I find that windows needs to be re-installed every year, even if you aren't thrashing it as fast as I am.
On a formatted partition I'd say. Though that is only last resort.

Don't do it unless you know what you're doing!!!

Have you tried copying the contents of your TotSC CD to your hardrive (i.e into a dummy folder for instance) and from there run the .exe file?

I'm having the exact same problem running on a Windows ME machine, except mine also includes trying to install from the BG1 disk. How did you solve the problem?
