I'm not a big fan of beauty pageants but not all of them are necessarily sexual. Stereotyping... maybe. But still they aren't exactly being compared like lumps of meat at a butcher's, at least not in the major, more or less respectable pageants. ;)

In fact, if it comes to stereotyping, your opening post is a better example because it presupposes that:

    1. Toronto bans a women of a certain kind rather than one particular woman.

Toronto banned a specific woman from wearing a specified accessory in a specified event.

    2. Toronto bans women because they are beautiful.

In fact the reason is stereotyping and pageants.

    3. Beautiful women are those who take part in pageants.

Not all women who take part in pageants are beautiful and by far not all beautiful women take part in pageants, even taking into consideration the fact that individual tastes in female beauty vary.

Sniper, apparently, fell for your mighty suggestions. :p

This is how stereotyping works. :D

It was a joke, dude. Lighten up. :shake:

P.S. I've been waiting to use that since you cast Dispel Illusion on Tal. See what you've started?

That is why I posted in whatnots as opposed to the Alley. I did consider the alley as it does involve the ridiculousness of political correctness.

@chev - It was 'accessor ies', her sash and tiara, and her Miss Universe title. If you're going to nitpick people, do it properly. :)

Note: This is the same town where women can go topless. Vavoom!

Looks like the only real reason to go to Toronto for me is to get that salmon jerky I discovered at the Pearson airport.

    Dammit I'm sexy! :D

But then again, I am a bloke, so I don't think I'll quite be part of the beautiful female stereotype :p

Hey, it's Toronto - the city that also calls in the army when it snows. (This happened a few years ago - they had a blizzard, and called in the army to, umm... well, I'm not really sure why. Torontonians are kinda wimpy.)

    :p

@kuemper: Sash or tiara, from one to two. Consequently, singular. :p ;)

    [IMG] This is funny!

But as an aside, Toronto has arguably one of the greatest collections of beautiful women on the planet.

    Go Raptors!

@chev - According to this, and your logic ;) , she can wear both. Since I'm in this mode of thinking, she could be called 'the most beautiful woman in the universe' for her introduction. Makes me wonder if the person who named the barenaked lady (the flower, not the band) is/was banned from city property as well.

Seen prettier girls and, how to put it, more unique ones? Nothing wrong with the flower. :p

Splunge - The joke in Toronto is that Mayor Mel Lastman called out the army because the snowbanks were taller than he is.

In reality, I think he just panicked because the transit system was forced to shut down and the roads were virtually impassable.

About this whole banning beautiful women thing, it's not the first time that something like this is happened. About 15 years ago (I could be wrong on this), the band Barenaked Ladies were banned from performing in Toronto because of their name. IIRC, it was under the same by-law that this incident occurred under.
