[IMG] Has anyone ever really gotten to the tootsie roll center of a Tootsie Roll Pop just by licking or sucking on the dang thing? If so, how long did it take?
I usually get about half way and the just say, "Ah, screw it!" Chomp!

Yes!!! The TRUE art of eating a tootsie roll pop is licking as much of the hard candy off as possible, BEFORE eating the chocolate! Geez, Elios....no crunching! :shake:

    Btw....about 10 minutes.

I like to lick until I've worn a hole in the shell, then I crunch it all up. The orange and raspberry are my favorites, and I like the combination of flavors and textures.

 Jumpin' Jesus, woman! You must have some hard-core suction power. It takes me about 10 minutes at least to get through a Jolly Rancher. You must be exaggerating.

    @ Rally:
Wow - looks like we have a Tootsie Roll Pop aficionado in the house!

Aaaaah the eternal question: How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?

    Let's ask Mr Owl:

"Mr Owl, how many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?"

    "Let's find out...
    [lick] One...
    [lick] Two...
    [lick] Three...

    CRUNCH

    "Three!"

    The world may never know...

[IMG] Heh. I only just realized how much candy a day I eat. . . It's like sugar is my form of Chevalier's coffee. *ponders this a while* And it usually takes me about 15 minutes to get to the center of tootsie pop. I like sucking on candy. Lots of candy at that. My Mom actually got me an early birthday present (4 more days!!!! :D :D ) of a pound of lollipops... *happily sucks on lollipops* And my favorite Tootsie Pop is raspberry. Yum! Yeah so now my Dad's all jealous cuz his birthday's the same day as mine (did I mention it's four days away?!) and he wants a bag of Tootsie pops...

That reminds me of a teacher I had in 6th grade. She was obsessed with Orange Tootsie Pops... She used to get enormous boxes of the things and keep them all around her classroom. Apparently she did that throughout college too because she went into this big long story about how once she bit into a tootsie pop (orange of course) and it didn't have any Tootsie roll so wrote to the company and they gave her like 5 free boxes because of it. -- She then tied this into a lesson by making us write to our favorite company/coorporations and tell them that we love their products. And then she turned it into a contest and the first person to get a letter back got a Tootsie pop of their favorite flavor. 6th grade was a fun year. :)

[IMG] Not really licorice...It's hard to describe, because a tootsie roll is kind of the measure by which other taffy-like substances are judged.

Have you ever had a chocolate saltwater taffy? They are a little hard at first, but become chewy and soft as you eat it. Tootsie rolls are close to that, but still different.

It's somewhere in between licorice and hard candy. Sorry I can't be more specific.

A tootsie roll is basicall a small roll maybe 3 or so cm long(guessing for you since I assume you use metric). It is brown and chewy and tastes like chocolate. Think of cheap chocolate that is all meltly, then add being able to chew it for a minute or 2 and you have a tootsie roll.

Hey! I do the same thing! The stem is only in there long enough so that it comes out easily enough that my front teeth don't come with it. :)
