Too many swords not enough hands, which is best

I'm getting ready to start chptr 6 and am wondering what your opinions are on the best swords. Minsc (lvl 16) has Lilarcor,the Silver Sword, and the Equalizer. I have Valygar duel-wielding his katana (Corthala Family) and Celestial Fury. I know he lacks defense with no shield (AC-3) but with 2 prof slots in Katana and 3 in Two Weapon Style he kicks. I babble, what sword to you think Minsc should try? I feel the Silver Sword looks best but...(I also have Blade of Searing +3 but it is Bastard Sword, and i don't have prof pts in that)

 

Now that you're in chapter six, you should go back to the Adventurer's Mart. You'll find a lot of good stuff there when you ask to see his special items (or something to that effect). For Minsc, You'll find and excellent two-handed sword called the Warblade, it's 1d12+4, very nice. If you've a mind to slay some dragons, challenge the Shadow Dragon in the lair of the Shade Lord. Take it's scales back to Cromwell and give the suit of armour to Valygar. With this, I think he has an AC of -5 in my game. Hope I could help.

 

Normally i do the dragons way before i enter the underdark, (even though the makers left awsome armour their if you dont) so it really dont matter much either way... just makes the assylum easier(again, not that, that very hard)

 

I cant understand you not choosing longswords like flamethounge (looks like these flimsy fireswords but is way better). However, longswords offer some good weapons to choose of with Adjata, Ras, Daystar or Blade of Roses.

However, you´re in chap 6 so going to the adventurers mart seems to be a very good option for you´d find Warblade there, a +4 two-handed sword.

Equaliser (good for wiping out the radiant heart, a crucial part of the game)

Minsc should take the Silver Sword, Keldorn Carsomyr, Valygar Celestial Fury, Imoen or Nalia Equaliser or Blade of Roses. Jaheira should dual wield Belm and Water's edge if possible.

Why is everybody undwerestimating flamethounge? You can get it early in the game when you need it.
It has two good features: +4 against all sorts of undead (like liches); +2 against regenerating species (like werewolves or trolls). Maybe it doesn´t make as much damage as other swords but it can hurt dangerous enemies better weapons cannot. I found it very useful.

 

The sword I like best is Adjatha the drinker, for every point of damage you are healed a hit point cool! My Half orc Assasin has not needed a cleric for healing since he aquired the sword.

 

Anyone notice that while the Flametongue does extra dammage to regenerating creatures, it doesn't actualy do any "Fire" dammage and therefore can't kill trolls permenantly. Ras is good in a secondary slot, as well as that small sword that casts Mirror Image on the wielder as a one time a day thing. The mirror image is nice for non fighter-mage fighters. And you have to like Liracor if just for his lines. I may be an intelligent sword but I have no formal edjumication.

 

It is truely difficult to overlook that flamethounge does no fire damage when you fight trolls with it
