Ok, so I was trying to clear off my computer desk and realized something: I have too many cables, most of which are different! Speaking of different cables, what ever happened to standardization with USB cables?

    • I have 4 regular USB A to USB B cales, a special USB cable for my Zen Micro Mp3 player, and another special USB cable for my Kodak camera
    • 5 speaker cables
    • A combined set of 3 cables from the USB sound card to my subwoofer
    • A wired volume "remote"
    • Power cables for 10 different things
    • TV antenna cable
    • FM radio antenna cable
    • A 'line out' from the TV tuner box to my sound card
    • 2nd monitor's VGA cable
    • My mouse cable
    • A CAT5 cable
    • And a standard phone cable
That's a grand total of 32 cables/wires along with two surge protectors/powerstrips!

Any of you have a similar cable issue? :bang: :rolling:

I know your pain well. Here is my list:

    1. Plugged items
    • Speakers audio cable
    • Speakers interconnection cable (connects one to the other)
    • Stereo headphones
    • Microphone
    • Mouse PS2 cable
    • Keyboard PS2 cable
    • Scanner USB cable
    • Webcam USB cable
    • Monitor connection cable
    • RJ45 connecting the ehternet card to the cable modem
    • Modem's cable
    • Printer's parallel cable
    • Crossover cable for the LAN
    • Power cords for the above devices
    • Wireless Phone platform power cord
    2. Not connected right now: A myriad of other cables that I keep in a drawer and only take out sparingly like another crossover cable, several different USB cables for cameras and MP3 players, normal phone cords, USB extensions, TV connectors, a serial cable (aaah, the days of simple direct PC connection), a serial cable extension, multiple AC adaptors, three or four USB-to-PS2 connectors, modem and RJ cables, some spare power cords...

A long time ago I came to the conclusion that cables breed. You start very simple.

    1) Computer
    2) Monitor
    3) Keyboard
    4) Mouse (wirless) Ha!!!
    5) Printer (I have a Printer/scanner combo)

Those are basics. Next thing you know you can't see the floor for the cables.

    6) Microphone
    7) Internet Modem - Cable to the cable, Cable to the computer
    8) Speakers
    9) Wireless Phone - again HA!!!
    10) Headphone -only ocassionally hooked up.
    I don't have a webcam -yet- or a LAN.

But just as Colthrun I have a large drawer full of whatnots.

Oh, yes the line to the phone jack.

    I think I forgot something.

Most of my cables are hidden behind my desk, so they don't get in my way too often. Here's what I have:

    Keyboard
    Mouse
Router+plugin, cable in and cable out
(^These 3 are actually on the desk)
    Monitor
    Speakers
    Harddrive

    Hubby, OTOH, has these:
    Speakers
    Mouse
    Keyboard (wireless)
    Harddrive
    Printer
    Scanner (broken)
    Router connection to me

Neither are that bad. We don't have microphones or headsets, since we sit kitty-corner to each other and can just yell. Nakia is right - I think cables breed. :alien:
