I have a mixed opinion of TOB after completing it, I really like the story etc but I found it far too easy.

SOA took me about a month to complete but TOB only a few days. I think TOB plays far too linear you just seem to go with the flow rather than travel all around the realm completing different missions (what I liked about SOA).

I think it was because my party was far too powerful; nearly all the battles in the game could be done using only my main character. I killed the dragon in watchers keep where the ghost gives you 3 missions with only my main character and no help from the rest of the party.

My main character Drakkhen- when fighting dragon

Thief Level 12 - 200 odd pickpocket ability, rest in trap detection and lock picking.
    Fighter Level 29

Stats including equipment modifiers, hell and machine of Lum the Mad

    STR 25
    DEX 19
    CON 16
    INT 18
    WIS 17
    CHR 19 - was 3 originally

    Long sword *****
    War hammer ****
    Two weapon style ***

    Main Weapon - Equaliser
    Off Weapon - Crom Fayer

    Shuruppaks Plate
    Boots of Speed
Helm of the Rock + Horns
    Amulet of Seldarine
    Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialisation
    Ring of Gaxx
    Cloak of Non Detection
    Girdle of Fortitude
    Ring of human Influence

The rest of the party were equip with nearly all the best weapons in the game matched to their skills as I nearly fully explored SOA. Though I did not pay as close attention to them as I did when equipping my main character.

Minsc – Best Two Handed Swords and Long Bows.
    Jahiera – Scimitars Sling.
Keldorn – Holy Avenger + 6, Heavy Crossbow.
    Anomen – Rune Hammer, Slings.
Imoen – Staff of the Magi, etc.

I think my main disappointment with TOB was the fact that you cannot access the areas on the SOA map and play some of the missions or stay up to date with the strongholds etc. I would have liked to see some of the TOB missions incorporating those areas. Especially as I had a massive stash in the fish stand outside the Copper Coronet ;)

Also the magical rare items were not rare enough in my opinion and far too easy to put together.

All criticism aside I did enjoy playing TOB. :)

[IMG] The problem with ToB is that, by the time you can say "Oh, I've got this wonderful Big-Ass Sword +10" you will have already finished 9/10ths of the game. Like the "good" weapons (Crom Faeyr and Equalizer, among others) in SoA.

Try starting a game in ToB, and you'll see it's a bit more difficult, especially in the beginning, because you don't have all those goodies from SoA

I'd have to agree with Lokken there. I didn't truly realise just how much my sorcerer relied on that wonderful robe of Vecna until I tried a TOB only game without it. The same goes for some of the other gear you can get in SoA. Starting a ToB game is much harder when you dont have the equipment you would have had with a char exported in from SoA.
