I heard it's a bit like SpellJammer. I never really like SJ and thus never really got into PlaneScape. From my understanding PS is more of a combination of worlds then one world of it's own. I don't think traveling between planes should be a common activity for adventures. Since it requires a high level spell just to move between planes making it a common action is over doing it.

Am I on the right page or is PS totally different?

Voltric, to open a portal between planes or between places in the same plane there's no need for spell - you need to know where one particular portal is and you need to know a KEY to activate it.

The key may be an item, a word, a gesture or even a bardic song.

Ain't this world full of oportunities to get an adventure?
    Read the comic.
