    I'd like your opinion on this series if you've read some or all of it. I have "through the darkness" lying around at home but it's part 4 or something of the series. Is it worth buying the first book and then going through the entire series, or should I just shelf this book?

    I havent read World at War but I read Turtledove's World War series and it was worthwhile. Not amazing in any way but a good read. I would wager that World at War is the same.

    Yes, it's definitely worth reading. I'm eagerly awaiting the paperback issue of #5. I found myself getting wrapped up in the characters very quickly, and now I want to go back and re-learn the real WWII history that underpins the series.
