I have heard that it will be one of the few hardcore cRPGs to be released any time in the near future, though it doesn't sound like it will be anywhere near as good as those that came out in the late 90s...

I am getting it later tonight. Its out in europe. Aparantly it has a great storyline. But its linear and quite hack and slashish. And you don`t get to make your own character either. Still......might be entertaining.

The books were. I've read them all. The guy is a top fantasy writer here, if not the top. It's not like I have a particular reason to like him personally, but he has some great imagination and his knowledge is astounding. I'll be getting the game at a later date because my new graphics card is in the repairs and the old one won't hold it.

It is not bad. It uses the Aurora engine and gives more than enough eye candy. (on a core 2 duo whit 3 gig and a hd2600xt) It will run on older computers, the box says a pentium 4 2,4 as minimal, whit a geforce 6600 128, so reachable for most gamers. Or ahtlon 64 2800 whit a radeon 9800. Recommended says core 2 duo, dx9.

This is a game for one or maybe two runs. The character is good, but still, we are used to D&D. Linear? So far yes. Alchemy is okay, the inventory and journal are ok. The skilltree makes more sense than the usual skliitree's.

The combat reminds me of Jedi Academy. you have got 3 styles, but stil need to click. But not for every swing. A bit to console like for my taste but better. Not Sacred type clickfests.

The game looks just a bit more polished than most games. Is it going to kill Oblivion? No.

I've heard very good things about the books, but haven't gotten any so far. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait a bit to play the game - my current computer has no chance to run it (laptop, 1.73 Ghz, built-in Intel graphics card).

I got my copy of the game today, unfortunately I have other gaming projects going on so I probably do not have time to play it until 2008...

I got a chance to give the game a try on my friends computer. Holy Cow! The main character is hot! Too bad the sexy cuts scenes aren't a little more reveiling

True, most male charaters in games look so stupid.

Little update on the gameplay. It has a lot of cutscenes and plots. So far I found the quests also a better than the standard fed ex crap. The journal is fairly good and keeps the quests in an understanding order. Again more spit and polish than the average non D&D rpg.

The combat is strange for a D&D platey. It is not the mad clicking as in Two Worlds or sacred.(Avoid Two Worlds: great graphics but the rest is not up to standard)clcik to start a combo and click again on the right time. you will get the hang of it whitin two fights, but still. If this game came whit D&D rules it would get neare to BG2 than IWD or TOEE.

A negative note. After a long and good cutscene in which you had to make choices you get catapulted into an area whit a levelboss. and you could not save! I repeat you could not save. So I now know the custscene, the long one, better..... I had to step out before I would break something. Every time those gamedevelopers do something like this I just want to grab him/her and slap for every time I had to go trough the cutscene . That the camera does not do what you want is something every game has and we find normall, but people no savegamepoint before a levelboss is so console.

The inventory only keeps small items so no carrying four swords, 3 acxes, a heavy flail and two pieces of armor. Limited like deus ex invisible war so you have to make choices. For me it is an advantage. More rpg, someone gets it. it is not the grinding, the harvesting but the story that makes the game.

So, if your pc can handel it, this is a decent one so far. Worthy of its cost.

I've heard extremely good things about this, and would run out and buy it immediately if I could justify the expenditure with my current sad state of financial affairs. RPG Codex is gushing about it though, and that happens once every blue moon.

I want this, but don't think my PC can handle it. The minimum spec says an AMD 2.8Ghz, and mine runs at 2.4Ghx max. Also appears to need SP2... ?

Is there some reason why you wouldn't want to install it any more?

Yes, I have a perfectly legitimate copy of XP, but just can't be bothered to install the updates...

Barmy, you can just download SP2 (one big file) and install it. It's that easy.

I think I'll buy it, if it's witchy enough. Right after MotB and C&C 3 of course.

Tal, you're quite the saviour to thicko's like me.

Still probably need a new processor though. Unless a 2.4ghz could just scrape it... bet the performance would be terrible if it did, though.

Depends on the rest of your config. The graphics card matters a lot and a good amount of RAM comes handy in some circumstances, such as loading. BTW, you could look for a used processor of the best grade that will work in your mobo, then sell your old on ebay. Don't know how it is with AMD processors, but with Intel ones, sometimes new techs work in old slots (e.g. with a good mobo, a PIV Prescott 3.4 GHz will work where a Northwood Celeron 2.4 GHz did - or something even older). What's the mobo you have anyway?
