Ok, so I just watched this movie.

I'm going to have to say I was disappointed. I'd read the script/screenplay the other day, and it was intense. But the movie didn't use *any* of the techniques I was expecting. There were some suspenseful parts that just didn't happen.

Some movies overuse those "beat" notes that come at really frightening parts, or they overdo it. But all the beats and zoom closeups were missing from this one. All the subtle, and dramatic filmography just wasn't included.

The acting wasn't anything near top-notch, but I think that was a moot point, really. Or, it would have become a moot point if they'd used the proper filming techniques. I don't know if it's just the fact that it was filmed in 1982, or what. Heck, it just wasn't the special effects or the acting, it was the camera shots and soundtrack. Alien and Terminator had better camera work.

Overall, a real letdown. Interesting. But a letdown.

    Anyone else seen it?

    What do ya' think?

Yeah I've seen it. And I recognize it for the masterpiece it is. An intense feeling, remarkably well made special effects (that disgusting thing easily beats the fancy computer-effects we have in our modern films) and acting...well you can't make drama out of a horror so why blame it for the lack of such (in other words, how could it have been any better.. when it certainly could've been a lot worse)?

A matter of opinion of course. But I suggest you no longer read the scripts of films before you see them. It's as smart as watching the "making of" and comic versions of an epic movie before watching the movie itself.
