[IMG] My girlfriend mentioned last week that she'd never seen 'Good Will Hunting,' which happens to be one of my favorite movies. So we rented it, and of course it was good. But I hadn't seen it since it came out, and had forgotten about on of the best pieces of dialogue in the movie. A scene near the end where Will (Matt Damon) is recalling what he thought about a recent job interview with the NSA (National Security Agency). Remember - this movie came out in 1997, and Matt & Ben Affleck wrote the script a few years before that.
I watched that the other day and thought to myself "Damn...that could've been written yesterday." Eerily prophetic, no? Subtract the 'oil spill' part and substitute "hash pipe" with "blow" or "bottle" and it describes the events of the last 3 years pretty accurately. I realize this was written in part based on the political climate of the post Bush I/early Clinton years. But it took Bush II to elevate things to such a wonderfully ridiculous level.

    Struck me funny, anyway.

I recently saw that movie myself, although it was on a regular channel, so it was heavily edited. Anyway, I had the same feeling as you. What they are portraying as an entirely fictional event is not all that far from the truth once Bush II took over. As you said though, except for the oil spill part. The Exxon Valdez has already run aground in Alaska in 1997.
