The 5 in Obes basement. Some of them look like they would be great! It's a shame you can't leave with any of them or their equipment. Any other thoughts on them?

    Maybe, maybe not :)

You will have problems if you want to have every NPC in your party. Can't fit more than 6 you know ;). Those who are available, are great enough.

They aren't bad but also not better then other NPC's you will encounter in the game. For Candlekeep is the very beginning of the game they look very strong. They are just a regular band of level 4 adventurers, by accident known by Gorion. When you could have them in your party, it would spoil a whole part of the game, for you should just start with level 1 and 2 npc's and develop them by playing.

They are levels 1 and 2 when I go in there!

It wouldn't be cool if you left Candlekeep with a whole army.... Especially not in the first parts that are also not hard with 1 or 2 characters.

Just be happy how the game is ;) When you still wanna have 6 good level 1 characters in Candlekeep, just start a multiplayer session and create all characters by yourself.

Do you really want those NPCs that badly? gimme a day or 2 and i can have them in chr format and exactly as they r in the training. I will just have to do them like i did the regular npcs and do alot of writing and twice as much editing.

    ........SPOILER........

You can take their equipment away from them all intact...

Okay here is what you do ... When grouped with them, go through their inventories and take whatever you want and put it in your characters inventory ... when thats done, import your character and start again. When you start again, you will have some initial cash plus hopefully those items that you took off the npcs. Easy eh? One thing, i wouldn't recommend going back to Obe cos i think he takes the stuff off you if you go back down there ... have fun!

    ........END OF SPOILER ........

In the walkthrough by Dan Simpson, it is explained how you can, without really cheating, hire those NPCs in your party.
I did it, and believe me, it isn't worth it. They have good stats and all, but:
    - they allways say the same stupid thing they say in Candlekeep, really!
    - the cleric loses his special abilities the first time he levels up
    - the thief has more than 100% stealth, and on average they are too "strong", it ruins the game
In short you don't get fun this way after the very first hours.

You can get the NPC´s in Obe´s basement to join you, with a little bit abusing the game

    But it is possible

Remove them from party. You have to manage to pause the game after you ask Obe for teleporting outside before he does it. Then you need one of them next to you. Talk to him and unpause. If the dialogue starts before you are taken outside, let him join again. Once outside, you can control the other NPC and make him to talk to others.
However you shouldn't do this, because it really destroys that wonderful walk through serene woods at level 1 and backstabing of black bears with Imoen...
