Ok many people say this movie is really scary, when i watched it i didnt think it was the least bit scary.
Is this because the new version is *tuned down* or anything?
I am kinda surprised when someone thinks it was scary, i would rather call it a thriller than a horror movie.

    EDIT: YAY 500th post :)

[IMG] A friend of mine got the original. We were watching it, lights off for atmosphere. And that bit in the film where she goes into the loft to check out the wierd noise, just then, the trip switch cut the power off to the whole of my house. :aaa:  :mommy:

That was kind of freaky. Never found out why it tripped coz everything was fine when i reset it.

I've seen it back when it was new, and for its time, it was mind-blowingly terrifying. Films since then have pushed the envelope even further, so its not *as* scarey as it used to be. (Same thing with Salem's Lot ... couldn't sleep after seeing that, and now its almost funny)

The thing about The Exorcist that still keeps me up at night is that its based on a TRUE STORY.

I met a priest on an indian reservation (where I had encountered a few possessed people myself) who told me that he new the priest who lived that story. The old priests descriptions still give me goose bumps.

It was filmed in Georgetown, so one of the tourist sites everyone wants to see is the staircase that a priest falls down. It's a couple hundred feet tall leading down the hill G-town is on.

I saw the movie a couple of times (both versions of it.) It didn't scare me like it did my mother (but then again, she saw it when it first came out.) The sequals to the movie sucked though, both of them!

Is it true that several actors died filming it?

I had someone that insisted that in the end,***( If you haven't seen it, and care, don't keep reading) When they call the demon out of the girl, the shot of the demon hovering over the girl, (or something along those lines)wasn't originally filmed, and they couldn't figure out how it got there and they couldn't edit it out....I dunno, I think he was a little out there.

I've seen both versions and thought they were almost identically, bar a couple of little tid bits. I never found them scary, or enjoyable.

Didn't know about the actors deaths, or the shadow at the end. Hmm interesting.
