It seems I'm working my way backward through the series and I am now installing Baldur's Gate, at least I thought I was. The first attempt failed midway through the instillation and I was unable to uninstall so I reformatted and tried again. The second time it failed immediately and won't let me uninstall. Third time, another immediate failure and won't let me uninstall. Now when the disc is inserted it says I have the option of playing but pressing play yields no result and when I try to uninstall I receive the following error:

"log file C;\Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate\Uninst.isn is not valid or data has been corrupted. Uninstall will not continue."

Any idea what's wrong or suggestions? The disc looks clean and not too scratched up.

Go to "Run" on your start menu and type "regedit". Then in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" and "SOFTWARE" you just delete anything that is related to Baldur's Gate. Then at least you should be able to reinstall the game without reformatting.
