    [IMG] Hi, everyone. I only recently purchased Torment (a fact I regret, since I have so little time to play a game that deserves so much more attention), and have a frustrating problem that is slowing my advance through it. Specifically, the load times for those areas requiring CD#3 have become agonizingly slow. I have never had an outright crash--but it takes a full ten minutes for an outside area to load, and about three minutes for a building--such as the Lower Ward's Market--to load. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling--full install both times. I've tried installing the patch. I've tried putting the "no read ahead" option on my CD-ROM and emptying out the cache. I've tried deleting the temp files. The problem just won't go away.

    What's really odd is that this problem did not occur the first time--indeed, the first several times--that the use of CD#3 was called for, such as in the Weeping Catacombs area. It started up the second time I entered the Lower Ward. The first time I went in, I stayed for awhile, then left to wrap up numerous other quests I'd (foolishly) left unresolved in the Hive. This trip back to the Hive included a foray into the Catacombs, which again loaded fine. Only when I entered the Lower Ward again so that I could progress with the storyline did this problem begin.

    Any help would be *greatly* appreciated.

    My advice is to try a "full install". There isn't an option to do this so don't go looking.
    What you do is copy the contents of the CD's onto the hard drive. I usually copy them into the Tormnet folder in their own folder per CD. Then open the Torment.ini file with your handy-dandy "Notebook" :D and where the CD paths are change them to where you copied the CD's.

    [IMG] Thanks for the suggestion, Cerryl. It seems to have worked. I appreciate it greatly. :)

    Besides that, do copy all *.bif files into cache folder. Otherwise, there will be some slowdowns also. And add this in torment.ini:

    [Config]
    CacheSize=1000

    at least.
