ok anyone who's beaten the game (and if you haven't you should hit the back button NOW :) knows you get 5 tears of bhaal after you goto hell and when you use them to open the door to meet irenicus you gain some nice bonuses. also when you aquire each tear you have to make some choices. some of those choices alter the bonuses you recieve. so cause i had to know the different bonus i tested them out and here ya go :) i'll list the 'tests' clock wise from the right.

    test of pride:
this is the test where the pride fiend tells you a powerful creature has the tear of bhaal and you must kill it. if you agree that it must die you fight an unspecified type of dragon. when it is killed you recieve 22000 experience, the tear of bhaal, scrolls of timestop, Wail of the banshee, and sphere of chaos, 20 bolts of lightning, 20 arrows of dispelling, a robe of the evil archmagi, a ring of protection +2, and some gold. when that tear is used your character gets a 200000 exp bonus, this is usually useless unless you rushed through the game or removed the cap (it let my undead slayer reach level 20 :)
on the other hand you can ask the pride fiend what type of creature has the tear twice and then why it has to be killed. the fiend will tell you it is disappointed in you and leave. you can then talk to the dragon who will give you the tear and leave. this time the tear will give your character +20% resistance to fire, cold, and electricity. (you can also kill the dragon w/o talking to him and still get this bonus and 22000 esp but all the other items were not on the dragon's body after i killed him)

    test of fear:
this is the test where the fear fiend will offer you a cloak made from nymph hides and 2 paths lead to the tear. one of the paths has 3 elder orbs and 2 gauths, the othre has a traped, locked chest containing 4 potions of extra healing, 5 potions of fire giant strength, and 5 potions of invulnerability. regardless of wether or not you accept the cloak, the tear will give your character immunity to normal and +1 weapons.

    test of selfishness:
for this test the selfish fiend rambles on about how your actions affect others and then abducts and holds one of your party members (i wonder what happens if you are alone, need to check that out :) there are 2 paths to the fiend each with 3 doors. the right hand path will hurt your ally by 1/3 his hp for each opened door. the final door will kill your ally who you can then resurect with a spell or wand. the left hand path's doors each reduce an attribute of your character. the first door reduces the max hp by 2, the second door reduces dexterity by 1 and the third door removes 75000 experience from your character. either way the tear you recieve grants 10% magic resistance. an interesting note here, paladins MUST sacrifice of themselves as letting an ally die will remove their paladin status no matter what your reputation is. i wonder if rangers have the same restriction?

    test of greed:
this is the infamous test where you are given the lovely blackrazor long sword by the greed fiend and told it can kill the efreeti in the room. you can either free the efreeti by giving him the sword or kill him. freeing him gives 20000 experience points and a tear that rewards +2 to all saving throws. killing the efreeti yeilds 11000 exp and a tear that gives +15 hp.

    test of sarevok:
the final 'test' is a nice conversation with your favorite brother (and sibling if you killed off that annoying b**** imoen :) he badgers you about how weak you are and encourages you to embrace the power of the slayer inside you. i haven't tried EVERY conversation path (yet :) but it seems that if you refuse power you gain a tear that gives +1 to wisdom and charisma, while if you desire power the tear will give +2 to strength. ohhh and you have to fight big bro again and he is one MEAN SOB, not hard to kill just lots of hps and he can dis out the punishment, of course you killed him before and the same tactics work and now he doesn't have no mages to back him up

as i've said before i'm not sure these bonuses are permenent if you import the char1 file created when you beat the game.

And if you made certain choices, when you go to start a new game with the same character, you could have a little surprise, your good character is now evil!

really? do you drop to evil if you did just one evil option or do you have to do 3 of the 5 evilly? and what would happen to my paladin if i choose the evil options (as i fully intend to do for atleast 2 of them :) and will an evil character become good if you choose 'good' options?

    updating time....

first i now have a nice neutral evil paladin and i was wrong about the bonuses being permenent :)

second, i think the fear test can give you +2 to constitution if you refuse the cloak. that's what i got instead of the immunity when i just beat da game.

Yeah, that's kind of strange. I didn't know it could change your alignment. Also, the stat increases were permanent for my character even though they are in red. I started over using the same character and I have kept the +1 weapon protection, magic resistance, and the stat increase. In game time, it's been about 3 days (still in red) and it's still there. I hope it's permanent, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't.
