ARRRGGGGHHH!!! I missed the fourth quarter!

My ride had to leave early, so I only caught the first three quarters. Of course I had to miss a game settled in the final ten seconds.

    But am I bitter?

    ARRRGGGGHHH!!!

I'll do you one better -- I worked all day today and missed the game entirely. This caps 26 days in a row without a day off since I had the temerity to take a one week vacation starting New Year's Eve. Groan.....

It was a pretty good game, probably the best recent Superbowl. It was tense, nobody got any points for the first 27 minutes!

The "wardrobe malfunction"? That is the only thing about the Superbowl that made the morning news I heard in London. No mention of the score or result!

That was probably one of the best Superbowls I've ever seen. Great playing all around, and it's nice to see 2 teams get the spotlight who favor teamwork and good sportsmanship over the flashy, arrogant, whiny, showboat athletes (like Shaque, etc.) who, IMO, ruin today's sports.

It's too bad that the excellent playing and exciting game were overshadowed by a wave of boner and fart and beastiality commercials, a streaker, and Janet Jackson's boob. "Wardrobe Malfunction" my ass. So much for family friendly TV guaranteed on superbowl sunday.

I actually believe CBS's assertion that they didn't know that Janet's boob was going to be shown to millions of viewers worldwide. What I don't beleive is Janet's or Timberlake's assertion that it was accidental.

Even more puzzling, I can't believe many people are referring to this game as the "Greatest Super Bowl ever." I've been watching super bowls since around super bowl 10 or so (too young before that, and for the first few, not even born yet), and while I agree it was certainly one of the better super bowls, I don't think it was the best of all time. To wit, the super bowl just two years ago was better when the Patriots beat the Rams. This one was good, but the expected result (Patriots winning) occurred. Two years ago, the Rams were heavily favored, so it was exciting seeing the underdog pull it off. Also, going back four years ago to the Rams-Titans super bowl was also very exciting, and better than yesterdays. Again the Rams were heavily favored, and they did win the game, but I will always remember Dyson's lunge for the endzone as time expired that came up a yard short. Going back a few more years to around 1990 or so, the Giants-Bills super bowl was also excellent, although I'd place that on even ground with the current one. So I'd say yesterday's is in a tie for the third best superbowl ever.

I only watched about the last 20 minutes of the superbowl because I was waiting for survivor all-stars to come on.

I don't know what's the big deal is about Janets breast anyway, it's probably as fake as Micheals nose.

    First, about the half-time debacle...

It's interesting that a leather bodice could tear soooooo easily...and that she just happened to be wearing a pastie! ;)

The game was great, and was lost for Carolina on an ill-advised decision to go for a 2 point converstion on the first touchdown of the 4th quarter...do the math...

    NE 21
    CA 10

Carolina scores a touchdown but misses the conversion, leaving the score

    NE 21
    CA 16

    Carolina then scored again

    NE 21
    CA 22

Again they went for (they now had to) a 2 pt. conversion and failed

NE scored and made a 2 pt conversion to keep it a 7 point differential

    NE 29
    CA 22

Carolina scored a TD and kick to tie at 29, NE kicked field goal to win by 3 in closing seconds.

Go back to that first missed conversion by CA and factor in a kick

    NE 21
    CA 17

Carolina scores again and factor in a TD and a kick

    NE 21
    CA 24

NE scores but does not go for a 2 pt conversion as there is no strategic need

    NE 28
    CA 24

    Carolina score it's last touchdown

    NE 28
    CA 31

Now the last second field goal does not win the game, it only sends it into overtime, where anything could happen!!

Anyway, that's my take on the game. Bad decision cost them the game.

Yeah Pats. I'm off to the parade in city hall plaza. At least this year it will be warmer. Two years ago the tempature barely broke postive numbers and we had a million people. Good thing I don't get nervous in crowds.

Jackson and Timberlake have now admitted that the stunt was planned, although they still contend it was planned right before the performance so that CBS is telling the truth when they said it never happened in the rehearsals, and that they didn't know it was going to happen.

Being rubbish? I do think not! Where abouts you from? ;)

England have always missed that little something extra, which we seem to have found in the last few years. But we were by no means rubbish my friend!!
