    [IMG] Hi guys,

:idea:I'm thinking of making some videos of my gameplay, and uploading them onto YouTube. It's about time I added some videos to my profile.
First I want to record my replay of the roof of the horde fortress, so everyone can smell the awesome cheese of Otiluke's Resilient Sphere. And see the largest battle in IWD2 - Heart of Fury mode.

So I asked some guys on youtube what to use, and they came up with the programs Fraps and GameCam, and also VirtualDub to reduce the size of the recording, as well as convert to avi format.

But both Fraps and GameCam have problems:
Fraps CTDed the game as soon as i pressed the record button F9. Also, the free version of Fraps has a watermark in the recording, and won't record for more than 30 secs.:grr:
GameCam doesn't have a control screen, and there are few options. All it says upon installation, is press F1 to start recording. But when I press F1, the mouse turns into the 'defend' icon, and no recording starts. Also, I read that the free version won't record sound, which is no fun.

I heard that many games have a source code, with which I could start a recording directly, and that people involved in the creation of the game would know this code. I'm hoping that this option exists, and that someone's willing to divulge this code to me.

Maybe in the future I can refer to actual gameplay footage in YouTube for discussions.

I don't know what to use.

But it is a cool idea and I'm looking forward to see your footage. :)

    Checked this one out yet?

If that one doesn't work for you, Google is your friend.

as far as "recording source code" goes, probably not an option. Games like Quake do that (which allows you to in essence recreate scenes and movement in an "in game" movie) but IWD doesnt have a feature like that

    [IMG] Thanks Tal!

I got CamStudio to record some footage, it looks good. I still need to get the sound recognized though. But the created video file is nice and small. When I get it to record sound too, I'll put it on youtube;)
