[IMG] Hey people, (or other species).
I have just gone out and bought my first bunch of D&D gear. I bought the D&D Basic Game, D&D Miniatures Entry Pack and a Dragoneye Expansion pack.
Is this good to get me started? Should there be anything else I should look out for to buy to help me get on the way?

I'm looking to start a character based off of my NWN character.
She is a Fighter/Thief Half-Elf Drow who wields two scimitars. (although looking through the advanced rule book of the basic game set the falchion's look more appealing. *even though it says they are two-handed*)

Any hints or suggestions on how to set up a character like this?
I was looking at buying the players handbook, but it is pretty expensive. Thanx ;)

I'm not familiar with the D&D Basic Game, but appearently it is meant as an introduction only. You slowly learn the rules and concepts of D&D, but when you hit level 3, you are adviced to buy the Players Handbook, Dungeons Master Guide and Monster Manual. (According to the description here)

This set might be good for absolute beginners, but considering you already played NWN, you would probably have no trouble learning the rules from the Players Handbook, which you'll have to buy anyway if you want to continue playing D&D above level two. However, if you are not really sure if D&D is 'your thing', this might be the cheapest way to find out. You certainly didn't necessarily need the additional miniatures at this stage, considering the Basic Game already has miniatures for those who want to use them.

I'm afraid you might get bored quickly with this product. D&D can be an expensive hobby, if you buy additional books on a regular basis, but buying the three core books is a necessity if you're really interested in D&D.

Thanks. Guess I'll start saving up for the players handbook. I also have a demo of a program called The Character Generator that came free with Baldurs Gate 2. Now I converted my NWN character as best I could using it, but would it be cheating to use her on the D&D Board Game? Or should I just start a new character over again?
