Stupid Question Re: multiplayer

How do you type in speech that others read? Go ahead and make fun of me for not knowing, too.

 

I suppose you mean pressing "v" and choosing an appropriate option. There are quite a bit of voices, so if you know which are there you can augment your character by using voices at the right times.

Also, if you meet a character that's not playing you can try and hail him with a voice. If his NwN is only minimised, he'll hear you and start playing again. If he's not around computer then he cant of course.

 

he could also mean the chat option since, he said read not hear. in that case you just press enter, it will be sat to talk, but there are a couple of other options (party, whisper, shout, dm talk) which you can change, down in the left corner, right where your text appear.

 

Or you can click in the text line at the bottom of the screen, just above the quick-key icons.

 

I don't know what I mean, I've only done multiplayer one time, but the other people were obviously typing stuff in and you could read it, like, "so, what classes are you guys?" So I just click on the text? I know how to say stock phrases and bow and do all of that, but I want to be able to type in stuff.

 

There is a long, black command line near the bottom of your screen, just above the icons for the quick slots. See that? It has a box on the far left that says "Talk". Either press the enter key or click in the command line. Then you can type whatever it is you want to say there. Press enter to have your character "say" what you typed. It will show up over your character's head on screen.

P.S. - If you click on the little box that starts out "Talk", you will get a pop-up box that will allow you to choose other options (as listed above) like "Shout", "Whisper", etc.
