    Splunge? I have to say you are MASSIVELY jaded (which is saying a lot coming from me) to think these are mock-ups. :)

    I myself have only seen the like once - back in the early 80's. My family was all packed in the camper on our way out for the summer 'roughing it' trip, when dad called out and pointed out three odd clouds off in the distance. It was early evening, and they were somewhat side-lit by the setting sun, so they turned out kinda creamy-coffee tan like the second photo in Tal's linky. It's really odd, seeing as Newfoundland is fairly flat, without the mountain peaks that typically cause those eddies in which altocumulus standing lenticularis form.
    :confused:

    As for the second set of 'wave clouds', that kinda thing is seen all the time in 'current bands' on jovian planets like Saturn and Jupiter. Interesting to see it here in our skies; I wouldn't have thought we get a severe enough velocity/density differnce in our skies - cool.

    I'd say that only a few of those were actually edited by Photoshop only to bring out/change the colors of the clouds. Plus, filters attached to a camera can give an ordinary cloud some really pizzazz.

    The UFO shaped clouds are actually more common than you think. I've seen a few when we were cross country skiing deep in the mountains just east of where I live. The look really cool when the sun starts setting.

    Ans as for the one that looks like sperm (or an upside down teaspoon if you like), we get those all the time here. All it is, is the jet stream suddenly shifting overhead, or sometimes a funneled gust of wind from the mountain canyons that smacks in to a cloud. They don't last too long once the jet stream hits them. :aww: :rolling:
