Just beef up and hack away, he is no biggy. If you want to be really sure throw some protections against fear so your dudes dont start to run around. But just use all your buffs and some summons and you should be able to hack it to pieces pretty easily.

First of all, you cannot buff everybody up to the point where they have a prayer against the Dragon. In other words, don't make this a team effort because the Dragon will waste the relatively weaker party members without breaking a sweat.

Have one super-buffed up character hold the Dragon down in one spot. For me, it was my Paladin who was enhanced with Stoneskin, Barkskin (generic bonus on top of his Brazen Bands), Mass Haste, and Remove Fear. My Rogue/Wizard lent the Paladin his Brilliant Short Sword +5 for this special occassion so as to bypass his thick skin.

The rest of the party keeps a safe distance. Between my Ranger/Druid and Rogue/Wizard, they totally tore up the dragon with bow and crossbow plus Bolts and Arrows +5. My wizard used Lower Resistance on the Dragon, and then went to work with Mordenkainen's Missiles, Magic Missiles, etc.

It takes time, but the Dragon eventually drops dead.

    Hope it helps.

yes, not team effort. the only team you are sending in is your summons. send in your fighter type characters one by one so that your cleric or druid can heal them as while as keep summoning. pay attention on your summons keep summoning while the other fall. in between summoning, keep attacking what ever spells available. lower lever spell will be resist by the guardian 99% of the time. you could ignore them if you want. if your wizard out of spell, use mordenkainen's sword to slice the guardian. also, it doesn't hurt to try disintegrate if you have it because the guardian will leave nothing for you to loot.

for me the easiest thing to do was use sanctuary on my tank, place him at the head of the ramp leading off of the guardians platform. this blocked his movement. i then used lower resistance on the dragon and proceeded to magic missle him to death. took awhile, but it worked. other than that, the other strategies seemed good. try to keep him on the platform though because once you start running around with him chasing, he teleports exactly where you don't want him to be...

The spell Lance of Disruption does great damage to the dragon. But it also damages anyone in the lance's path. So I had my sorcerer hide, but stand on the platform with the fighters, in a position to lance the dragon without hurting my people. He was down after maybe 6 rounds. Resist fear is good or even necessary.

[IMG] I could never win this fight without losing 4 out of 6 members of the party plus 6 summoned monsters. Then I stumbled upon a tactic that made the fight so easy it was embarasing: have a hasted cleric cast HARM. It'll take a few tries before he can land the attacks, but once he does, the fight is over.
