Stone Golems are dangerous enemies of low-level parties. You need blunt weapons such as maces, flails, warhammers. Heal yourself while fighting.
Escape the area to heal yourself, and then return to continue the fight. Use mirror-imaged characters to lure the golem, so the automation will attack your protected character while your other characters can attack the golem.

Barkskin is a protection spell for yourself, quite useless at low levels.
You might have confused it with something else, or misunderstood the spell description. Golems are your enemies, and you should not try to protect them. In fact, golems are immune to magical spells (with few exceptions), so you cannot cast spells on them.

Thanks, I confused the barkskin with the stone to flesh spell of icewindale. So I give more power to the golem, not great. That's the problem when you don't speak very well in english but I don't have the choice cause the best games are in english.

Clay Golems are the ones you need blunt weapons to damage, Stone Golems just need +2 weapons to hurt them.

Melf's minute meteors work wonders against them i think. All you really need it a mage/sorcerer able to cast it and then hope to hit the golem. At least it doesnt take a long time - 5 attacks/round ;)

Elendrile is correct. And stone to flesh doesn't work on stone golems as far as i know. You could however always try a coupla of lower resistances first however. I tried it before but can't remember if it worked.

Golems have 100% magic resistance, but are not technically immune to magic, so you can hit them with Lower Resistance a few times, then pelt them with spells.

Good fighters mop the floor with them, just make sure you've got +2 weapons to hit them with.

Stone golems do not need blunt weapons to be damaged, but +2, right.
Although if you use blunt (certainly +2 or better) weapons against them, you will see the difference.

Any spell which description says that it ignores Magic Resistance can be used against golems.

To be honest, I don't think blunt weapons have any advantages against stone golems. They don't have resistance to any types of damage listed in their creature files, at least. They have the 100% MR and immunity to +0/+1 weapons already mentioned.

They are immune to slow, petrification, and backstabs. When you think about it, why would a stone golem be affected by flesh-to-stone anyway? :p

Correct, what weapon you use on Stone Golems does not matter if it is of the correct enchantment. Clay golems are immune to everything except blunt.

But he was talking about using Stone to Flesh on them.

That would be quite cool if that turned them into Flesh Golems.

Isn't Stone to flesh something that only works on petrified flesh? I never knew stone golems were petrified Flesh Golems. :p
The inverse, casting Flesh to Stone on flesh golem would then be very bad idea because instead of defeating you opponent it would make him more powerful. Bad idea.

This golem-transform with Stone-to-Flesh and Flesh-to-Stone spells sounds an interesting idea, no matter if it violates any rule (I do not know whether it does or not), could be cool in a mod

Clay Golems can be annoying if the party is low-level and/or you do not have good crushing weapons. Often they haste themselves with Golem Haste, and use Golem Slow as well against your characters.

I have one easy strategy that will wipe out most golems cast melfs minute meteors, then tensers transformation so u can hit more often and stand back boom boom boom *drinks his beverage* and there you have one or more dead golems, you might have to recast meteors, so have more than one memorized, but i know tensers doesnt allow that, so if it like an iron/adamantite then dont use tensers just memmorize like 5 meteors and you might not hit often, but you will at least do some damage so you can run in there hasted and finish him off.

I doubt using stone to flesh on a stone golem would do anything. As was said, it works on petrified flesh.

I mean, under that scenario, you could pick up a rock, cast stone to flesh on it, and it would turn into a blob of flesh?

Has anyone ever used stone to flesh on a stone golem? I have to admit it never occurred to me.

i agree, stone to flesh wouldnt do anything on a golem, but i wish it did, then you wouldnt need +3 weapons or blunt weapons and stuff, they become like really vunerable, but those will be the dreams......... (sigh)
