I cannot believe how stupid some bookstores are!
I saw this in Big W here and it had been on sale there for about a week before I noticed it wasn't in any regular bookstores. So I asked. The answer I got from most wasn't surprising at first but when they finished answering I was shocked.
Understandably, each store I asked had sold out, but the real shock was that they had each only ordered 1 or 2 copies of it. Where is the sense?
Sure, it's a $AUD70 hardback but why should that matter?

Anyway, now that it's out I've organised for it to be a Christmas present for me because I've been hanging for this for a long time. Any other Dark Tower fans out there? The only unfortunate thing is that by the end of 2004 the series will be done. Doesn't that bite? I also heard that once the series is done, so is Mr King's writing career.

BTW, anyone know how many of his other books makwe reference to Roland of Gilead's world? I know The Talisman and The Black House do as well as a couple of others but can't recall which.

I am currently in the middle of Wizrad and Glass, ut I work at a library, and we have Wolves of the Calla, and as a member of staff I can keep it as long as I can, e.g. forever, so sorry for other King's fans around here. My question is:
King said himself in the afterword to the W and G, that it is easy for him to write about suspence and ahrd to write about romantic love. I really like the first 3 volumes of the Dark Tower and his other books (Talisman is the favorite), but he really sucks at love stuff IMHO. I mean, the kids are what 14 and 16. Suitable for Shakespear, but otherwise... It's not serious.

I loved SK's nightmarish landscape in his Dark Tower series, love story or no in Wizard and Glass.

However, seeing as I lack the monetary resources after having splurged on HOTU, I guess I'll have to wait a year or two for Wolves of Calla to come out in paperback.

Personally, i think Dark Tower is his greatest achievement, but how can he be considering retiring after Book 7? I mean, even though this is IMO his greatest work, it's not like everything else pales in comparison!
