    [​IMG] I was just wondering how many of you have seen this. I stumbled upon it recently and the 70's machismo & portrayal of women as fragile & mostly dumb crew members (Uhura aside), I find the series pretty good (in a cheesy, retro sort of way :p ). I did some digging and to my surprise it apparently took great effort by the fans and Amazon to convince Paramount to secure a DVD release in a couple of months. Amazon.com actually put up an interest page in an effort to guarantee the upcoming DVD release. Here's a chunk someone posted on that page:

    I can remember seeing some of those episodes a long time ago. Don't remember much about it, but I do remember what the animation looked like.

    I have seen some of the animated episodes and I would say that they are definitely worth while to watch if you are a fan of the original series.

    Most of the people who seem to have complaints about the animated series seem to be fans of the Next Generation or the films and have no appreciation for the relatively low production value corniness of the original.

    For the most part the animated series tends to be very close in look and feel to the original series. There was a small amount of "kidifying" for saturday morning cartoon purposes but not so much as to make it offensive to adult Trek fans.

    The animation does look dated by modern standards but that holds true for just about any t.v. cartoon from that era.

    Yup. I watched these when they came out. Then again, I also watched the animate Harlem Globetrotters series and the animated Jackson 5 series, so I was clearly not a discriminating kid.
