HOLY CRAP. Ive never seen that many enemies before. At one point before I rescued the villagers, I decided to cast invisibility on my bard/demarch of mask and scout around.

Jeezum crow...Black Isle certainly pulled out all the stops with this game didnt they?

Eventually I continued this tactic of sneaking and spying later on in the level. Holy crap. The designers MUST'VE taken a hint from the Two Towers with the huge battle. I mean..archers on every rampart and parapet..trolls skulking about..tons of orc shamans..bug bears, orogs...

Good lord. Even though it's a hell of a battle, it's GREAT fun.

Well, it makes perfect sense for a fortress to contain the main part of the army, no?

Is this really a post, or just something to have a b!tch about? Of course its gonna be filled up with enemies! If you want a REAL challenge, attempt it in HoF.

    Cheers.

Actually its about as difficult in HOF, you just need different tactics. The drums have well over 100hps in HOF and I would dare say close to 200. Summonning distractions and invisibility are the only way...

Actually you don't have to fight most of them. You get quite a lot of xp from sneaking right by them and not engaging any in battle. A duergar party can go invisible using special abilities, or a mage can turn a small force invisible and send them around to unlock the door, or you can just send your thief around (if she can get the key off the door guard, and the door opened to let in the reinforcements, without getting clobbered). When you get to the second floor of the fortress, the game calculates your stealthiness xp (up to 1500 I think, but it's in the online walkthrough) based on the number of rooms of enemies you *didn't* fight. So it's not necessarily a huge battle at all, just a huge challenge. :D

[Edit: note I am just talking about the main fortress itself. You can get by other areas without fighting much but the xp is only for that main fortress floor that is swarmed with enemies- and, btw you forgot the spiders. :p ]
