I turned Valygar away in the Umar Hills in the hopes that I could do his quest later. So much later I show up at his house in the docks area and open the door to a bunch of cowled enforcers and centurions. After a tough battle, (all you demon slayers out there can stop laughing), I head upstairs and find Valygar. He attacks and won't talk I let him hit me a few times and kept trying to talk to him. I had to kill him and now can't do the quest, is there a way around this besides reloading?

    TIA

not exactly sure about this. But i believe you can take his body and use it to open the door to the sphere. I however have never tried this.

Elessar I've heard the same option regarding Valygar's body as well. And just to let you know... I did the exact same thing my first time through BG2. In fact I fought several teams of those damn centurians, knights, legionairres and cowled enforcer groups.

I missed out on the Planar Sphere as well as Saughin City my first time through BG2. -Killed Captain Saemon before he got a chance to give an excuse for betraying me. I was role-playing however!

My party was too "butcher first ask question/laugh about it later". Let us know if the body of Valygar or his blood or the like works for you however.

There wasn't a body. I did scatter parts everywhere when I killed him. I wonder if that would make the difference? I took his family armour to the door at the sphere but it was a no go.

I may have been a little sword happy when I walked through the door. Come to think of it they were going to talk but ended up just saying something about my unavoidable death. In my defense these guys have kicked the crap out of me a few times.

I guess even if I re-load my only option is to take the quest that has you hunt down Valygar. Considering he is Ngood and I'm a paladin wouldn't this be kind of "bad"?

There are very few deeds that BG2 will punish you for. I'm not sure if snuff'n out Valygar is one of them. You probably don't have too much to worry about when it comes to playing your alignment (until a true DM get's ahold of you in NWN!!!) in the BG2 series.

But, quick thinking there! When you thought about going to the Gov district and 'accepting' the quest for Valygar's buttocks on a platter. That just might work. Keep us informed however, eitther way.

I on the other hand missed out on major XP from Golems and Demons in the Sphere my first jog through (I later replayed my Fighter and went through it correctly). There's some great magical trinkets as well so you may just want to 'reload' and test your thesis.

    Draco, what is NWN?

I think I'll stick to playing my alignment. I may re-load and just avoid his house altogether. Maybe one of the cheats will work that transport you into places. I think I'll try that.

    Thanks

My understanding is all you need is Valygar's body to enter the sphere. If you chunked him and left no body, well just don't damage him so much next time... :)

    And NWN is Neverwinter Nights

NWN? Hmm, thought you may have picked up some passing comments about it. You may want to go to the NeverWinter Nights forum here at the Sorcerers Place to get more info on it.

However it will be the ultimate computer based Role Playing Game that is as 'close' to pencil/paper AD&D. If I were to state that I am looking forward to the release more than any other game that I've ever purchased, well it would be downplaying the truth of the matter.

It will allow Dungeon Master control and incredible multiplayer support. There are way too many things to go into but visit the forum here on Sorcerer's Place.

Once it is released, I believe a lot of folks will get 'consumed' by it in a good way and other's in a bad way. You can visit neverwinternights.com site for official data.

    Possible Spoiler
I know most of you will know what happens in there but some may not and it is a great battle.

Well as a follow up I decided that it wasn't that big a cheat to teleport my crew in to the sphere. I have a feeling though that you end up ass backwards as far as playing it as a quest. I battled a small army of psychotic halflings that was nearly the death of a few of the group, who'd have thought halflings would be that tough ;) .

I could only get so far in there and had no way out as some of the doors were magically closed.

I had heard of Never Winter Nights just didn't place the acronym. Thanks for the imput .
