It's been quite an interesting week... and not entirely in a good way. Yesterday a couple of our hosted sites were targeted again by an exploit aimed at their message boards, which had me riveted to my chair in front of the computer the entire evening, first trying to figure out what the hell was going on, and then what to do about it. Eventually, I suspended both sites so the attacks stopped affecting the entire server. One was turned on again a few hours later (still to a considerable amount of attacks, but manageable), while the other one had to wait a bit longer. The attacks seem to have stopped now and everything is back in order, until the next script kiddie has a few spare minutes. *sigh*

Inexplicably, the time server we were using to synchronize the server time with had suddenly switched time an hour ahead, so I've had to change it to a new one. A Swiss time server this time, which will hopefully be able to hold itself together for longer than the last one. Seriously, if you can't even trust a bloody time server not to go haywire after a few months, the state of technology must really be in the dumps.

However, what's really been keeping me occupied for several days now is the activity regarding the separation of one of our popular forums, the Alley of Dangerous Angles, and the political threads within, which all got moved into a separate new forum, the Alley of Lingering Sighs. I won't go into details here as it's all being discussed on the boards, suffice it to say that the decisions being made about this issue were probably one of the toughest, if not the toughest, that I've had to deal with in all the time our boards have been around. Hopefully something good will come of it.

Finally, I got around to checking and uploading all the fixed content tables for the original Baldur's Gate subsection, and I have to say I'm very pleased with the result. The differences you will notice now are the credits next to the title of every listing, external downloads marked for convenience, the tables stretching as needed, as well as having a unified look. Eventually we hope to convert all game subsection on SP to this level of detail.

It should be much faster for users with a slow connection now.

Ah... we've obviously still missed a couple of things. Thanks, I'll fix it.
