Well, I'm about as fed up with this game as a person can get. I'm trying to put the Rod on the Altar of Lathandar, but can't get past the slicing swords in front of it. And Kel-Garas keeps respawning as he's immortal. I'm on my 9th reload. :bang: :flaming: I even had to REMOVE Trapspringer from my party, because of the stupid gaming rule that "Attack" mode should outrule "Stand Your Ground". And what gets me is that the walkthough says this is a piece of cake and never once mentions the slicing swords in front of the altar that cut you to ribbons in under 5 seconds. Some frigging walkthrough. Does anyone have the solution here?

Yea, well AFAIK there's only the option of trying to survive those spell-knives. At least that's what i did. I had stonesking though and drank a potion of Endurance to increase my HP. Mind you, i was a wizard with 8 constitution and i could survive it.
You might want to try dispel magic if you can get it in somehow. Or if you have a chaotic inventory (i do, so i always find something useful ;) ) you could try searching it for anything that would help you reduce damage or increase hit points. Aid potion, Endurance, Ghostly visage, Stoneskin, anything.

Another way... iirc the bedine chief is also immortal. Kel-Garas gets him down to near death, but he doesnt actuany die. So, you could try realoading before the battle and when it starts, just sneak away and wait until the spell wears off. It's a clearly cheesy tactics of course.

It's been a long time and I'm not sure if I'm remembering the correct game, let alone the correct encounter, but....

I seem to recall a wall of blades that I could not go through. It was maintained by a group of apprentices/priests or some-such. If they were all removed, then the spell was broken and the blades were gone. Of course, the main baddie was not idle during that time, but that is the idea after all. ;)

Luckily, I'm playing a paladin, and I just bum-rushed the altar and laid the rod in place...Done deal. Although badly wounded!!! ;)

I think the spell does wear out eventually if you can't survive running past it, you just have to stay standing long enough.
