    I have heard that Martin is releasing (released?) book 4. What is it?

    What do you think of his works so far. I reckon they are well written but I have not enjoyed them as much as Cornwell's historically based works.

    Number four is going to be named "A Feast for Crows" and no, it is not done yet. Any release date you see are made up by the retailer. Martin have had severe problems with the writing partly due to he hadnt planned on writing this novel but to have a three year gap between three and four, it didnt work out so he had to write another book.

    For me Martin, together with Hobb and Erikson, is head and shoulder above anything I have read, no matter the genre. Cornwell is good and I enjoyed his work but it did not grip me nearly as much as Martin did (I have only read his Arthur books and his Stonehenge book, the Stonehenge one was outright boring and rather bad in my opinion. The Arthur books were one of the better takes on the legend I have read). The grittiness and the sense of reality in Martin's books are terrific and the sense you get after a while that none of what has happened in the books yet really matters as the real "story" is slowly unfolding beyond the wall. Martin's characters are also something beyond normal, people like Tyrion, Jaime and The Hound paints a picture unlike most stories in general and fantasy in specific where good and evil all lies in the eye of the beholder and where few men are thouroughly evil.

    Top of my list for sure and I can't wait for the next part. I've heard he already wrote most of some characters (as his chapters are named solely to the character) but he has to write everything for the other characters. I think he's wrestling with some characters. Of course it's his own fault, there are so many of them :D

    I cant wait to get my hands on the Feast for the Crows (feat for the crows? :) )

    It really is a class of it's own. The amazing quantity of words, while not getting boring for one second and fleshing the characters out so well as rarely seen elsewhere.
    Just have to love it!
