To find some truly great character which you are not likely to find in FR or DL books go read George RR Martin´s A song of ice and fire. His characters are the most complicated I have ever read about. My current favourite after reading the latest one must be Jaime Lannister, a true knight turning bad and then turning I dont know what. Very enthralling. Tyrion isnt a bad character either. Who are your favourites?

Great books! *Very* well written, and the story lines are not only riviting, but entirely unpreditable.

Tyrion is, I think, my favourite :) His is, IMO, the most complex of all the characters, and perhaps the most well developed. I think he's great, but I find myself torn sometimes, cheering for a Lannister. Arya is also a great character. And I've developed a soft spot for the Hound.

Good books and lots of excellent characters (excepting Catlin who I've been wishing death on since the first book), however the killing spree in the last book put me off. He goes WAY out of his way to keep the dumb girls alive (as does Robert Jordan In WoT) and then the supposedly smart leader Robb walks into an obvious trap. Still can't wait to see where it all ends up though.

My favorite living character is Dany, replacing Robb who I was sure would reunite the kingdom by marrying her after killing the Lanisters (I know simple and prolly cliche but I ain't no writer)

Ara - there are 3 out currently in north america (not sure if all three have been released in Europe yet though). I've read 1 and 2, and I just noticed that the 3rd one is out in hardcover. The first one is called 'A Game of Thrones' and the second one is 'A Clash of Kings'. Not sure what the third one is called. They are definitely worth the read!

Edit: I'll say it before Tal does :p I'm almost certain you can buy them through SP :)

I don't know why, but I can't stand Dany at all. Tyrion is an excellent character and Jaime is becoming one quite quickly. Davos the Onion Knight is pretty interesting, too.

However, I find Sam Tarly and Jon Snow to be the most likable overall.
