    Well, two questions actually...

First, upon entering WK4 we get to see a little fight between Gith's and Illithid's and then that stupid wizard summons some Illithid's in the middle of my group - what is your plan, so that you do not lose anyone here... I haven't managed to do it without deaths yet - always have to pick "ye old sacrificial lamb"...

What I am thinking is Chaotic Commands on everyone probably, retreat as soon possibly, summon Invisible Stalkers, Mord's swords - let them engage the Illithids and help with missile weapons. Now, I was too stupid to memorize enough Chaotic Commands, duh... eventually someone didn't make a saving throw...

second, well there is that certain demi-lich down there... now I'm looking for something that can't be imprisoned... ok, if I have Minsc or Korgan I'm home and dry... but what if I don't have. I thought I had a plan - turn into slayer, as it can't be imprisoned... but I could not hurt the lich! AFAIK you need +4 weapons for him, what are slayer paws considered?

    TIA

Hm i think they are considered as the wp in hand.
For demi-lich,i killed Kangaxx with a single red-dragon firebreath. And other mindflayer groups are easy with chaotic commands.Don't try to use rd firebreath on them, illithids eat firebreath but mindflayers dont(that's stupid)

That demi-lich was super hard for me. His stupid imprisonment would always beat my spell resistance, which was over 65% at this point in time. Then, there were other times where he wouldn't target one of the fighters that are bashing him over the head. He'd target Jaheira, more often then not, and then, being without a Freedom spell, I'd have to reload. Now, the trick with Carston is he'll only summon in flayers or giths if you piss him off. The way not to do this is don't ask him too many questions. Ask him one, maybe two, and leave. No flayers to fight, no one's mind getting sucked out, it rules.

I find fighting the illithid quite easy if I have enough Chaotic Command spells to cover my group. If I've left levels 4 on until later in the game, or if I've hacked the snot out of it, I use the Psion's Blade, which cuts down on the need for one Chaotic Command spell. Once the spells have been cast, if you're worried about Intelligence drains, do like I do and send up your smart people to engage in hand to hand and send the morons like Minsc to missile distance and have them blast away. Summoned creatures are also good cannon fodder to keep the tentacled weirdos away from your party long enough to be eliminated. I don't bother wasting spells on those guys, their AC seems to be pretty low and their Magic Resistance doesn't help them at all against arrows, axes, bolts, daggers, darts, and slingstones.

My technique for the liches is a good old fashioned Spell Immunity -- it makes you totally invulnerable to one school of magic. Have your mage(s) cast it on themselves (since they can't cast it on anyone else), select "Abjuration" for the school you want invulnerability from, go in, and finish the little twerp off hand to hand ASAP. In the case of the Keep Lich, you have to really pump up your mages to do this, but you just send them in alone, and the lich never has to have a chance at your main character, let alone others that you might not be able to bring back if you don't know Freedom.

For Kangaxx in particular, I use the two scrolls of magical invulnerability (available at the Oghma temple, I believe, but don't quote me on that) for the two fighter-types I send up to hack at him. Stupid Kangaxx will focus all of his spells on the two closest to him, and as long as *you* don't do something stupid you can eliminate him. "Stupid" includes using your Ring of the Ram that pushes him closer to someone who does not have the proper spell protections. ;) I learned this the hard way.

Yeah, but I turned into slayer carrying Carsomyr - can't hit him. Improved MoD - no effect.
