Some questions from a newbie

    Greetings everybody!
    It is my honour to become one of you. I think we can give much help to each other. While first, I think I need some of yours.

    1> 20/-, 20/+5, +5 soak 10 damage, what do these exactly mean?
    2> Does damage reduction stack?
    3> Does elemental resistance stack?
    4> Can pure physical damage hurt the Big M?

    1) Those are typically for damage reduction. 20/- means you always ignore the first 20 points of damage inflicted in an attack. 20/+5 means the same thing as long as the weapon attacking is less than +5. +5 soak 10 damage is the same as 10/+5.

    2,3) I don't believe so, but I didn't look up the rules so it's possible I misremembered.

    4) IIRC yes, but I think you need a really high enchantment on your weapon.

    If elemental resistance does not stack, and if I have the feat "Energy Resistance (Fire)", and if one of my item has a 20/- fire resistance. Does it mean my feat "Energy Resistance (Fire)" is useless?

    Also, a dwarf has innate damage reduction. If he/she has a damage reduction item, does it mean his/her innate damage reduction is useless?

    Sorry for so many ifs. As a outsider, I don't speak your tongue very well. :D

    The following might not be entirely accurate, it was some time ago i played NWN, but if my memory serves me right, this should help you...

    <-
    Elemental resistance semi-stack, meaning that two of the "same" wont stack, but two "different" will, for example:
    equipping a ring which gives X fire resistance and a robe that gives X fire resistance will not stack, however...
    equipping a ring which gives X fire resistance and a non-item fire resistance, it will stack.

    Same goes with psysical, if you have a 20/- slash res. it will stack with 5/- damage reduction, but not another 20/+5 slash res.
