So, I finnaly decided to try and tackle this game in solo, and I wanted something that wasn't done before. Or at least not done as often as sorcerer or kensai/mage. So I choose cavalier, because I like paladins(not in the least because it's easy to get a good roll for them), and I think in the long run cavalier's fear immunity , his ability to turn undead, lay on hands and cast spells will serve me much better than inquisitor's dispel and true sight. What I was wondering is there any other thing I should be wary of? I'll get carsomry as soon as possible(I'm expecting this fight to be somewhat... shall we say, interesting, because I can't use missile weapons), and from there on my path is pretty clear. I suspect Demogorgon will have to be sealed this time, but I'll certainly try to beat him the old fashion way, that is, by whooping his ass.

My stats are 19/19/19/19/11/15/19, imported from BG1. At the moment I'm at level 12, half the way to the next level, with Sword of chaos as my main weapon, Lilarcor as back up for when I get to umber hulks. AC is -8, with plate armor +1, ring of protection +1 and +2, cloac of protection +1 and amulet of protection +1(I'm using ease of use, please, don't tell me it's cheating, 'cause I don't really care). Any more equipment I shuould get?

What am asking in this topic is mainly what equipment I should get/shouldn't miss. Tactics on defeating certain enemies should be kept for yourself for now because I have pretty good idea on that, and if I will need help I can always ask later. Also, feel free to spit on my idea for soloing the game with possibly the worst possible class. You're certainly entitled to your opinion. Just don't expect me to change my decision :)

    All help is greatly appreciated.

my standard repertoire for melee characters includes:

-Vhailor's helm: having a simulacrum is IMO much more valuable than the benefits of helm of balduran

    -Ring of Gaxx (always good)

    -Ring of prot +2

-Ammy of power (immunity to level drain is nice)

    -boots of speed

    -gauntlets of extraordinary specialization

-cloak of mirroring, or if you think thats too cheesy then the cespy upgraded cloak of protection +2 for improved haste.

    Miscallaneous good items:

cloak of sewers: 100% MR in mustard jelly form great for liches

short sword in mage place in Imnesvale that gives mirror image. just have it in quick item slot so you can use the mirror image without using the weapon

    shield of balduran (for beholders)

mace of disruption (upgrade with illithium) for undead

daystar: have in qick item slot, blast a group of undead and then clean up the rest with the mace of disruption

sell and rebuy the wands of fire, cloudkill, and monster summoning. Will cost a lot but gold is no problem as solo and each of these has great abilities.

Cavaliers are very good, definitely not worst possible solo class. You could even beat demogorgon if you wanted without too much trouble.

Wands might not work too well, being a Cavalier and all, well apart from the rod of resurrection and wand of Heavens.

Ring of the Ram from Tolgerias is another useful thing - 30 odd damage w/o a save is pretty neat.

Summoning items: The Efreeti Bottle from the Genie in Trademeet, the Black Spider figurine from the graveyard, Iron Horn of Vallah from the fish house in the docks, Ring of Djinni Summoning if you side with Bodhi in Ch2, Ras sword from one of the trademeet merchants. You probably wont have enough inventory space for all of these so yeah, pick and choose I guess.

Book of infinite spells from the mad cowled wizard in Brynlaw- some of the spells could come in handy.

Ring of spell turning in the underdark - minor spell turning may come in handy to avoid the 1st spell from a lich/wizard if you don't have the cloak of spell reflection.

You could buy a scroll of Limited wish (spell merchant in the Adventurers Mart), recruit a mage for a round or two and wish for a powerful magical item (1 time wish). That way you can get some full plate mail +2 nice and early.

Anyway, good luck and keep us posted!

I'd keep a steady supply of wands of dispelling too. Indispensible vs. Demogorgon, I'm thinking. And items which convey immunity to charm will make your life much easier as well. The easiest to use is probably that helm that gives charm immunity.
